    2010 230 70k, Is it a deal?

Just started looking for a 230. My local dealer has one with the team package with a Z5 Cargo rack and he will sell it to me for 70k. It is a 2010 brand new, in fact they just took it out of the plastic. My main concern is that it doesn't have the 6.0l engine so I know my resale value will suffer. But is that a good enough price to overcome/accept the smaller motor. He demoed the boat for me today on a private lake and it seemed to have plenty of power even with all the tanks filled. Thanks for the input in advanced...

is that with a trailer? and the right pitched prop should do you just fine IMO. let an owner chime in though. to me it sounds like a nice price. is it new or a demo or what?

It is not a demo, they just took the plastic off this weekend. It has the power prop, but not sure how it will do with additional weight. I intend on adding about 1600# more. It also has the mooring cover but doesn't have any tower speakers or board racks. I would probably add a fresh water cooler which is about $1700. The trailer is not included but he told me he would give me one at cost and quoted $4700 for galvanized. I am in brackish water hence the need for the fresh water cooler and galvanized trailer.

So really it's going to cost $76,400. I'd keep looking for a ZR 409 or a Coastal Edition.

MSRP for this boat is about 105k. MSRP for the same boat with 409 is 111k and if its a coastal is 114k. The main problem is finding one at this point. The closest I found was a used 2010 with 150 hours for 76k and that is without a trailer as well. The same dealer has given me a good number for the 2011 which is what I would have to get if I wanted the 409 in a new boat but in addition to it being a more expensive package, prices for the next year have gone up quite a bit. For instance the same base price for the 230 with team package is 91k. That's before adding the 409 engine which is still a 6k upgrade.

Wake_fun... What do you think would be a good deal on the boat I am looking for. 230 team package with z5 cargo rack. Galvanized trailer with the 6L. And what do you think the boat with the smaller motor should be priced at. It seems as if the MSRP is no guide at all.

Offer him 60K with trailer and fresh water cooling..........2011's are coming and dealers are hurting! He needs the money to order his 2011 lineup.

MSRP is 85K for a standard team and 3K for the Z-5 rack. So 88K total. I don't know what the other options are on that boat so???

many dealers are not ordering a 2011 lineup. The dealer is not hurting as bad as many of you think. He's already paid taxes on the boat if he had it in inventory at the end of 2009 and with the limited supply of 230's available he is holding all the cards.

I paid 72k for a brand new leftover 2009 230te about a month ago. That was without a trailer but with the zr6 and closed cooling.

My dealer sold a black 2010 230 Team Edition last month with a zr409, tandem trailer, cover, fct3, spinner racks, mirror mount, etc. for $85k. The boat sold the day it was delivered too.

I've owned 3 230's. I would never buy one with the 343, but I put extra weight in my boat routinely, and I sell my boat every year so resale is important. This past weekend, we rode with factory ballast, two 750lb sacks in the rear, a 1100lb bow triangle sack, and a few folks. The boat needed the extra hp IMO to plane out in an acceptable amount of time. Plus, there was one dealer nearby that got stuck with a 2008 230 with the 343 and simply could not give that boat away.

Everyone's going to have their own opinions, but from my experiences, and from what I've been told, the ZR is by far the best choice for the 230.

So this is the bottom line from this dealer.

                    First boat
                    2010 team edition
                    fct 3
                    z5 Cargo Rack
                    Freshwater cooling system add on.
                    logo carpet
                    radio control at rear
                    mooring cover
                    galvanized trailer
                    75k

                    or

                    2011 Team Edition
                    FCT 3
                    Z5 Cargo Rack
                    409 6.0l
                    underwater lights
                    sun deck filler cushion
                    swivel board racks
                    heater
                    mooring cover
                    waste receptacle
                    rear radio control
                    galvanized trailer

                    84k

Is it worth the extra 9k for the motor and upgrades. Keep in mind I will have to put racks on the 2010 which will be $1200 at-least for the spinner racks. Plus I will have to wait 5 or 6 weeks minimum. I will transfer my tower speakers from my current boat so no expense there.

I am really struggling between these two options.

i think the extra $9K is worth it for the engine and the those other few options. from the prices i have seen and the boats for sale, the ZR will definitely help resale. also, if you sack out your boat for surfing or wakeboarding, that extra HP will help a ton.

i would say, the biggest issue would be the wait for the boat, considering it is summer time.

at the end of the day, you have to feel like you have gotten a good deal for what you paid.

isn't the 6.0L like a $6,000 option? What is the difference between the '10 and '11 if you load them up apples to apples? Looks more like <$3k to me. If that's the case i would go w/the '11 and get the colors/options you want. Plus the '10 will depreciate more since we are basically done w/ the '10 model year.

Of course- to spend $84k on a boat is ridiculous to me but that is neither here nor there.

Thanks for the input everyone. I went in today and he made me a deal that I could not refuse. I got the 2011 Team Edition which comes with a lot more in 2011 than it did in 2010. Like board racks, leaning posts for both sides, and a hand full of other minor things that were not included in the team edition last year.

The build sheet on the boat was 111k and I paid 78,600 for the boat and he gave me a galvanized trailer for cost which was around $4600.00. It has the new logo which is awesome if you haven't seen it. Went with the new blue color for 2011 which looks sick on the boat. Also the new foam decking on the walk through area and rear platform has been updated to a faux teak in a titanium or tan color for 2011.

The best thing is that they had an existing order for a 226 with a delivery date of August 10th. The change date was last week but due to the holidays they extended it for him to today so he was able to change it to the boat I want and I only have to wait 5 weeks since the boat was already in cue.

I almost forgot to mention it has the 409 6.0L

He also said he would allow me to sell my boat through his store at no charge and treat it like a trade in so I will save a couple thousand on taxes as well. One of the first good experiences I have had purchasing anything. This guy seems more interested in repeat business than he does with making a killing on every deal.
