What year did Correct craft stop making the sloped transome?

I have a friend who is looking to buy a used boat that would be good for wakeboarding but a closed bow boat I have an 86 2001 which is a great wakeboarding boat but a little small. I know the newer closed bow boats have super flat wakes. Looking for suggestions. Budget is under 20K.

What your friend should buy is a sport nautique (direct drive), or a supersport with the V drive. Both of these are open bow boats, and you can pick these up for the price they are looking for. Air or super air nautiques are other options, with the super being a V drive. Depending on year, hours and condition, both of these can be had as well.

Definitely buy a boat that is a 93 +. Early 90's boats are the same hull that you are talking about with the sloped transom, but until 1993, wood was used for stringers. 93's and newer used composite stringers and those won't rot.

I love my old 78 martinique, but the space issue for me is a doozie with it's closed bow and narrow hull. I'm looking at some point to move to one of the above boats as well.

2002 they went to the more vertical transom and the gunwells were more narrow which added a little space inside the interior.

First question - why is your friend specifically looking for a closed bow boat (that is good for wakeboarding)? Maybe I read your post wrong?

In any case, 1997 was the last year of the sloped transom. 1998 is when they introduced the new Air/Sport hull and went to a vertical transom with a rear storage locker. 1995-1997 Sports are awesome!

GoBig, I didn't read that his friend wanted a CB, just that he has a CB 2001 and his friend wants more room in the boat he buys.

96 last year of sloped transom on Ski Nautique
97 Last year of sloped transom on Sport Nautique.
Although not as pronounced as the ski or sport, the SuperSport/Super Air had a sloped transom through 2001.

In talking with him he dosn't anticipate having too many people on the lake we both have homes on the lake so space is really not to much of an issue dock is close. My experience has been open bows don't handle as well as my 86. I have heard the early 90's with that sloped transomes had less than great hulls. He donsn't anticipate them skiing very much he has two young daughters and they are all learning how to wakeboard and kneeboard at the moment.
