got several things fixed on my 79 nauti recently. now i have another question. with my gas gauge reading empty,... stop by gas station and it only holds 12-14 dollars before it is full and is running out of the overflow. seems the gauge might be off and there is still gas in the tank when gauge reads empty. or is 12-14 dollars normal amount for this tank?? had to pull it out the other day just to go to the store to get gas,,.......sucked,.....

Probably the sender
Gas gauges in boats are notoriously unreliable. Having said that I believe that the tank should hold between 19 and 29 gallons. If you access the top of the tank you will see a hole with about 8 screws holding the plate in place. pull it out and test it with an ohm meter as you move the float up and down. White Lake marine or West Marine should be able to provide a replacement. Don't ever trust the gauge below 1/4 tank or you will find yourself rowing home.Nautiqueless in San Diego

this trip i might just have to leave it as is. have to get back to work after next week. and yea,... i dont want to row home,....
when just floating at the river it got down to E. but when riding/ pulling it shows more,.....guess cause of the angle,..... was just thinking it should hold more than 12-14 dollars,.....

83ski, (love my 83sn2001) great idea on the dowel >>getting one today. My g.gauge has no indicator at all.
..at least now I can focus on the Airguides that don't work.. bout to search for that thread.
- thx again PN- stoked on all this tribal knowledge! Told my lazy bad gf'esque primadonna mechanic he could EAD.. saved weeks and $100's so far.
