Thanks for all the good wishes! She is the best and the reason we are getting married next June. Insurance has not picked up the boat yet. So I plan on getting my stuff off of it first. I have already found a few killer deals on 09 new 230's. So hopefully I can get this insurance stuff done realatively quickly.

Sorry to hear...seems like you just got that boat!

Did you come close to hitting the boat (...you were surfing?...) when it hit the rock? Scary stuff.

Can you put me in touch with the Insurance company? I would like to talk to them about buying it from them.

Don't the insurance companies offer to allow the owner to buy it first?

If so, then you can ask the owner what the buyout is, and he can buy it for you (with your $$).

Yep, I jumped off my board right before hitting the boat. Landed smack dab on the rock myself...ouch. I did just get it in Oct. of '08.

Wow, sorry to hear about your accident! Were you in Lanier?? I give my wife grief about where she's driving in our lake (so shallow spots), and she always points at the depth gauge, and says, "see we're fine." :-0

Why did they total the boat? I just did the same thing yesterday but I think mine is a little worse. I broke the rudder and strut completely off. I hope mine is not totaled, have to much custom work in her.

Cars, and boats are totaled when the price of the repairs is greater than the price of replacing the car, or boat, with another used one of "like kind and quality".

Remember, Insurance companies are not in business to give out money. They are not your friend. You are not in good hands. They are a business.

There is a possibility they could deny your claim by saying you were operating in an unsafe manner. They could say your boat was probably overloaded, and or not loaded evenly so you could wake surf.

Kev, glad to hear you guys came out of that alive. To the vultures that are swarming, take a hint, give him a break and back off. If he wanted to deal with parting out the boat or selling the remains I'm sure he would have mentioned it in his several replies back to the thread. Jeeze, wait until the body cools off at least, I'd hate to see how some of you act at a funeral.... okay, rant over, flame on...

update.......still hashing everything out with the insurance company that seems to be sitting on their hands at the moment. They keep going back an forth, total, no total, total, no total........doesn't look like I will be able to get back on the water this year. The most agrivating thing is making payments on a boat that I don't know if I will ever be able to use again or not.

The engine and trans has been removed. There are cracks all the way thu the hull where the rudder goes, where the strut mounts, and in the gunnel(where the drive shaft comes out) I just don't feel comfortable with the boat anymore and wish the insurance company would just finish it off. I'm tired of being in limbo.

@Ceruzziracing thanks, but they are fine. I don't pay them any attention.
