Yeah, that does suck about paying payments and all that interest on a boat you don't even know will be revived or not.

I think the insurance co should compensate you for your loss of time in a pretty short season for that kind of activity.

If they would simply declare a total loss, then they would cut you a check, and you could replace it quickly.

I think so too, but you know how that goes!

        I wish they would!

                sorry for your loss

Hey, I hate situations like this. . . have been an agent for 26 years and feel your pain. . . .best advice, squeek louder than all the other clients in a civilized manner. . .

hardest thing is finding a competant person to repair. . used to be you could take something like this to the factory and then you knew you had a great job done. . prob not an option any more. . .

keeping the boat will be an option but i would always go for a total if it were mine but if it can be repaired they are gonna do it. . . you can do a lot of repair for $50K . . . but to be done right the boat has to be mostly stripped, motor and tranny removed and flipped up side down for the best repair option. . . good fiberglass people can do amazing things. . .newer gel coat is easier to match also. . it can be repaired but you are gonna miss the season and next season if the ins comp doesn't get off thier rear. . .

for all the vultures. . i know where an 09 230 is that was dropped off of a fork lift and sunk the skegs into the belly. . . brand new boat!!!!!

                  Dang...

                  Kevin,

So sorry to hear about your loss, but glad everyone is ok or at least recovering. That's a bummer... I would certainly go to see someone at the insurance company, and see if you can get this resolved fairly quickly. If they say that this or done needs done, sit down with them and get a reasonable timeline for ALL of the steps in the process (create a chain of events) and then hold them to the schedule. At least it gives you a jumping off point of when/what is supposed to happen from here.

Bummer, but keep your chin up!!!!

After more than 2 months of going back and forth, Correct Craft going back on their original statement, the insurance company is going to fix my boat. Now I wonder how long it will take to fix. Goodbye this year. Maybe next??? They also will not compensate for lost time and the offer they made to my fiance was pretty insulting. She still can't work

Hey with help of a lawyer you may be able to force the to total that thing out. If anyone looks up history on that boat when you sell it they will find out how badly it was damaged and your value will suffer.

which costs extra money that I don't have right now! pretty strapped since the accident. Only one income from two is very tough!

I hit a submerged log in 1996 at 36mph when my first Ski Nautique was 3 weeks old. Broke the rudder off, bent the strut 90 degrees, cracked the glass around the shaft entry port and around the rudder box. Enough to leak a good bit, although the bilge kept up. That boat was fixed to where you could not tell it had been hurt. They had to replace the strut, shaft, rudder, prop, stuffing box, repair the glass around the rudder port and stuffing box, and re-gel coat. The local Nautique dealer did farm out the glass and gel work to a company that specialized in boat repair. 14 years later the person who bought it from me in 2001 is still skiing behind it every day.

Also, In 1998 before we had our private lake to ski on, a friend of mine hit a submerged stump in his supra. It put a 1inch wide crack in the transom and bottom around the rudder port. Luckily, my boat was right there so we threw a rope to it and I drug his all the way to the marina before it sank. The same shop that repaired the glass on mine 2 years before repaired his and we skied behind it another 3 years.

2 examples of major structural damage on a boat and they were fine. You can fix fiberglass and the patch does not lose structural integrity.

you don't have any friends or parents friends who are lawyers in the area? a simple letter to your insurance company on your lawyers letterhead will do wonders. as of right now you are just a chump they don't want to help.(i don't think you're a chump, they do)
