Skylon Ski Pylon

I was just given a "Skylon" ski pylon and had a question.
I have an 89 SN 2001.
The Skylon has a ski hook 15 1/2 inches up froom the bottom. This will only allow the Skylon to slide down 15 1/2 inches onto the existing pylon in the boat. Is this OK? I would have thought that it would slide almost all the way down to the floor for stability reasons. I will attach two pictures for reference.

What a nice gift!

As far as the pole, some brands slide further down, some don't. My fly high pylon goes almost all the way to the bottom.

Looking at some sites that sell these, it looks like they all slide over the original further than 15".

My BI only goes about the same length down, '97 SN, no problems so far... You will see a moderate amount of flex toward the top with an adult, but from what I've read it's okay.

Need the plastic web sheath

They only go down as far as the bolts let them. Just remember to put the web sleeve over the pylon to snug the skylon to the pylon. It comes in white and yellow depending on the OD of your pylon
