09 Wakesetter 23 LSV VS 2009 Super Air Nautique 210?

09 Wakesetter 23 LSV VS 2009 Super Air Nautique 210?
Well I was informed by husband, I need a bigger/newer boat. I have a centurion I love (first boat I owned that I was proud of) but I am always having to repair something. One thing I found out is I need to plug the aft port vent or my belt gets wet and causes the engine to overheat since the water pump is not turning due to the belt slipping. There are other things but I have worked though most of them. The guys are tired of waiting to see if I can fix it so the day is not lost.

I have researched many types. I have been really looking at 210 and finally tested one a few days ago. It has so much more room than my 21 foot 2002 centurion ( I doubt that surprises any one here). It seemed to have a deep surf pocket but since it was not my boat I was not going to ask to change ballast around to see if I could make it longer. He used a 750 Fat sac in the port aft and filled another 750 on the port seat. He then filled the the front ballast and port ballast (only a 3 ballast integrated system).

I read the informative post "Decisions, Decisions: Should I sell my X and buy a 210?"..

I am wondering how any of you might feel the Wake Setter would pair up against this CC. Lets say price, hours, options, and most other details matched up. I am also curious how much the extra 2 feet of the Wake Setter will mater surfing. And which will give a crisper top to the wake board wake

Uses are mainly wake boarding & Wake surfing. I also wake skate but not good enough for the boat to make any difference.

I thank you now for anything you might have.

I don't know much about the 23 LSV but I own an 08 210 and it is a great boat. The one issue with the 08 and newer 210 (I have no experience surfing the older 210's) is the surf wake. Surfing has taken over as our primary activity since it is so easy on the body and really fun. I actually am in the process of selling our boat to get into a better surfing boat.

Here is a link with some info you might be interested in.....

I am not really a Malibu fan but I will also be investigating the surf wake of the 23 LSV before I buy anything.

      Lsv

I have a pal with an '06 23 LSV. Compared to my 211, the 23 LSV is very big, and handles rough water very well. A few weeks back I helped tweak the ballast set up for a surf wake and once we got enough weight on, it was really nice (I seem to like a bigger wave for more "push"). It has 4 hard ballast tanks and we put 2 sacs in the aft port locker and a 370# sac in the bow, and I felt it needed more, so when we put a 350# on the observer's bench ithen the wake got really nice. I am not sure but I think he had the wedge down about 1/2 way.

I don't think my 08 SAN 210 is all that bad?

was teaching a friend and his daughter this weekend how to surf and they both loved it! My wake seemed plenty big and the rear intake was not taking on water. Although I did have to be carefull with rollers over the bow but heck rollers can come over the front with no ballast if you don't watch it on any inboard boat. Anyway my setup was stock port and belly full, starboard stock half full and a 750 bag in rear port locker and 750 bag in bow on surf side. Had 4 other in the boat(2adults, 2kids), I've found weight in front much important! Anyway tell me what you guys think?

oh yeah my daughter is now dropping rope and getting pretty good, she loves it, sorry no other pics of me or her they are on the other cam.

Nordicron, That looks close to the wake I tested a few days back. I could climb the wall and it was pretty tall. Did you put extra ballast in the front on that photo or did you just fill the stock front ballast?

the 23 is going to be crazy huge. the 210 interior is plenty roomy in my opinion. both boats are going to be quality and provide you with a great wake. malibu uses indmar engines and nautique uses PCM. i prefer pcm's design and quality. i think it's really going to come down to you wanting the extra size of the 23.

I have seen that link, ctimrun. Has any one else experienced that double lip on the wake.

Not sure I want to handle a 23 foot boat alone but really want to make sure everyone who comes out gets a good surf or wakeboard wake.

I really need to get on an LSV and see how they ride and handle, but only see them going by on the lakes at the moment. I need friends with boats lol. that way I can try more out.

I had basically all stock tanks full(starboard 3/4 to half) plus another 750lb sack in port locker and a 750 sack in the bow on the surf side. Wake was nice! 10mph and hydrogate pulled back.

seems like you should be comparing the 23 lsv to a 230

If you're primarily looking for surf wakes, there's been plenty on here that says the 211 has a good one. You need to determine if you want the extra capacity of a 23 foot boat. Like TRO said, for an apples to apples comparison, you should be doing 230 to the 23 lsv.

I was looking at these 2 specific boats because they were priced identical. I wanted to see if paying the same for a smaller boat might be worth it. If the surf wake and wakeboard wake are pretty much the same with both boats and if it is true the Nautique is built better then I would rather have a better made boat. I know the Nautique still has a valid warranty.

I do agree you all are correct about the comparing the 23 foot SAN to the Bu 23 LSV. But so far the Nautiques in that size are more expensive.

Not looking for a miraculous answer just a few opinions. I have definitely taken what I have read so far into account.

                      Thanks Again
