I also dont like the smell of the fumes, they make me wanna take a nap.
I did take a nap when I opened up my new owners manual and couldn't make it thru the 4 pages of warnings in the owners manual about teak surfing and the dangerous fumes. CC is going out of there way to make the boat safer and reduce their liability.

I also spoke to my dealer about te covers and how to tie the boat down when travelling, as I am not totally comfortable with the boat only secured by a single winch. My dealer told me to tie-down using the platform brackets. He said they are as strong as the transom lifting rings. He also said that the covers are to help reduce the exhaust that comes up under the platform.

I also spoke to Mr. Meloon at the San Antonio renunion, and he said that many of the changes on the transom have been a result of lawyers and product liability. Some things though, he said they did in spit of the lawyers. The lader on some boat is an example of in spite, and the platform not having slots is a result. he said the slots allowed people to hold on better, so they could drag behind the boat when under way, so it had to be eliminated. I have to say, it was a good decision.

I will keep the pocket covers on my boat, and just keep straping it down with the platform brackets.
