Give it time. Just like the 196's. Just my opinion.

As I said, my ski partner(who was 2nd in M2 slalom at nationals today ) is a Nautique dealer. He's sold 5 Team OB200s to retail customers this year, plus 2 Promo boats. One of the promo boats he floorplans as a special deal for the promo guy(long story), so he gets that boat back to sell. In all five cases of the sales to retail customers, he offered to make them a good deal on the promo 200 that he's getting back and all five said no thanks, we want new. Two of them ordered the exact same boat down to the color combinations.Shane Hill

What's interesting though, is that with all the boats I have owned, they always run better after 100 hours. Fuel economy goes up right about when you hit that magic number. 200 hours on these boats is nothing. I'd bet these motors are dead solid through 3000 hrs or more. I do understand that many are not trusting that it will be broken in properly. For me, I spend a ton of time making sure my boats are as close to perfection as possible. In my opinion, I deliver boats that are better than new. My '08 was a perfect example.Promo Team member

So true about hours. Fuel economy has improved after 100 hours with each boat we've owned. Promo boats, from what I've seen, are kept in great shape. Demos are another story! That's the benefit of promo ownership for the next buyer. People tend to take much better care of the things they paid for.
Dave's '08 was awesome looking, and would be sitting in my garage right now, if he only had it 2 more months.'08 196LE (previous)

boat pricing
I would think that the company wants to allow the dealers to sell the boats for what the market will allow. It also encourages you to have a conversation with a dealer instead of window shopping. There is a lot more to a Nautique than a price and by having a conversation with your dealer it allows them a chance to speak with you and convey that quality before the sticker shock sets in. But that's just my humble opinion.Travis Fling

When did this sudden change of heart occur I wonder?
Competition and other brands having prices probably forced them to.
I say it 's a good thing. No more hidden prices, which keeps the manufacturers honest.

Personally, I'm not sure why they even bother with an MSRP. The last Nautique dealer I was at had photos of all the inventory w/ MSRP price, factory rebate of $2500, and additional rebate of 10K. That's right....10 thousand dollars ... If the dealers are dropping 12.5k off MSRP right off the bat it tells me that:
A) The boat is priced too expensively to begin with
B) Boats don't sell themselves like they did 5 years ago
C) Everyone in the industry knows it
Is a new 230 worth almost TWICE what I paid in 2005 for my 210 ? I mean really ??!!

they are still in biz so someone is buying them. We just come in and scoop up the used stuff.
I am not a doctor, i dont make 6 figures, i have a truck and a house payment. It isnt easy stretching for a 30k loan for a 8 year old boat as it is.
