    Slaloming behind SV-211

Not having much luck with the search function, so bear with me.

I was wondering if anyone has any slalom expeience with the SV-211. I know it's supposed to be a cross over boat, just wondering what the slalom wake was like at 32-36 mph, 15, 22, 28, 32 off. Any info would be appreciated.

Also, for those that have the boat, what is your opinion of it. Thanks to those that reply.

    211

We've really enjoyed our 211, does everything I want (WB, ski, surf), great layout and storage, very comforatable space for our family of 4 with capacity for up to 10 on the newer ones. Slalom wake really flattens above 32.

When we were boat shopping, someone here and/or on correct craft fan told me that when selecting a boat there are sometimes trade offs and compromises. For example, a v-drive gives a roomy layout and more aft storage which is a trade off to the better slalom wake. The layout, aft walk thru and storage and versatility is probably a big selling feature for the 211...

      sv 211 wake

Echo HS' comments. Most of the comments I found regarding the 211 were around the form and function of the boat. I didn't find anyone raving about it skiability, but more that it does everything in rec mode.

I open water ski, and occassionally get in the course. I ski at 25-30 off and find at 34-36 life is pretty darn bueno. It is not as good as some but is way better than most. I could not be happier with our 211 (especially the garage-ability).

To me it came down to dividing up my time on the water and figure out what it was that I wanted to get done. Kids are wakeboarding, I am skiing and wakeboarding, and most of our guest just want to tube. Ye Ha.

I haven't really surfed with our boat as a friend has a 23' Centurion completely weighted out and once a week is enough surfing for me, I would rather ski and board.

I can get some wake pics sent to you if you want, but you should test drive. After my first test drive, I was sure what I wanted. So happy with Nautique.

If you're looking for a V-drive to ski and can handle the price, check out the 200 Sport Thread on here. The new boat coming out 2011 sounds like a family skier's dream come true.

As for the 211, it's a good recreational skier but doesn't compare to a direct drive. Great all around family boat.

Not finding anything in the searches??? I have probably answered a similar question a solid 10 times in the past 5 years... so here's number 11.

The SV211 is a V-drive, the ski wake is not great, but it is acceptable to many. The hull is very sensitive to weight placement and load in general. In stock form with 1/4 tank or less of gas without any equipment on board the wake is very comparable to a pre-TSC Ski Nautique with the exception of 22 off where there is a big bump at 34 and 36 mph. I actually have 2 boats, my 2005 SV211 and 1/2 ownership of a 1996 MB direct drive slalom machine. This should give you a hint of what I really think of the 211 for slalom, I bought the MB with a friend after skiing behind the 211 for three years.

The 211 is a dated hull now a 7 year old design. Back in 2004 or 05 it was pretty good but there are better options now. I am sure the new 200V is head and shoulders better for slalom, probably the reason they discontinued the 211 this year. The Malibu VTX is also a very nice skiing V-drive. I have recently skied behind a MC X-14 direct drive and was very unimpressed, it was not any better than my 211 V drive. If you can live with the direct drive layout the 216DD is a much better ski boat.

If you must have a V drive and you are focused on slalom I suggest you carry a fat sack or two to mimic your typical crew load whenever you test drive a boat.

Last thought - I have gone out the front hard several times behind my 211, this has caused me to shift my weight too far back to be in a good skiing position. I might say my 211 has caused me to become a worse skier...
