    New Nautique Dealer in MN

I was at Marine Max in Rodgers today, dropping of my boat to have disc brakes put on.
I have used Marine Max for many years with my previous Sea Ray.

Upon walking in the door I see a tv screen playing a video of a Nautique 200, and thinking, that is odd to see in a Sea Ray dealer. I continued to to counter to check in my boat, after telling the guy it was a Correct Craft Ski Nautique his eyes lit up (as they should). Then he told me they are becoming a Nautique dealer, and pointed to what looked like a Sport Nautique 200 in the shrink wrap being moved into the show room. I smiled and told him I will be back to look at the new Nautique and maybe take my boat home.

    This is a BIG dealer.

This has been kept upder wraps for a while now. I, for one, am really glad to see Correct Craft getting into a bigger, far more visible facility. Correct Craft has lacked a good presence here for a very long time. I loved Cal Brown, may he rest in peace, but buried out in Prior Lake was not good exposure for the brand. I will leave what I think of his successors to the imagination.

Congrats to Marine Max, and to all who need a good dealer in town. I think it is a good move. I do think that they had better work extra hard to reinvent the image and maintain it after the fact.

        Whats up

Hard to think CC would have a dealer in Anoka and Rogers. Pretty close together.

My exact thought. I hope Son does ok, they will have big competition now.

Methinks that there will not be an Anoka dealer to compete with the new dealer in Rogers.

I sure hope that Son Watersports doesn't fold as a Correct Craft Dealer. I would much rather do business with them then a big cooperation.
I guess the mom and pop personal feel means a lot to me.

What people have been saying on Wakeworld is that Son Watersports is no longer a Nautique Dealer and they are becoming a Centurion dealer. I have email and try to call SON but last week they were at a there local fair grounds for a pontoon sale and they are closest on Tuesdays.

I personally won't mind a new local dealership. I bought my first Nautique from Son, and they were great, but that's where it stopped. I bought my next from a different lot, as Son didn't have what I was looking for - not new, so no territorial issue. I've been treated very poorly by them ever since.

No big surprise there. I have never been in the market for a new boat. And thus, see above.
                    I could go on, but I won't.

I even went back to possibly another boat from them this summer, but they said they didn't have time to pop it in the water for me to test drive. It was an older Nautique that my family wanted to buy to leave at our lake house, so I wasn't asking them to drop a new 230 in the water (even then one should be able to test drive). Without using the words, they told me to buy elsewhere.

                        I looked further into it.
Son Watersports is not longer a Correct Craft dealer or a PCM dealer.
I'm sure they will be with PCM again, as Centurion uses PCM.
They also are not a Centurion dealer yet.

I find this hard to believe, theres more to it. I have known Mark for years and all he ever has done is try to make his customers happy.
Mark would never say this but he got a VERY raw deal from Correct Craft. I believe Son will continue to be a PCM dealer and if they pick up the Centurian line that will fit right in. I hope he does great with what ever line he carries. Relationships used to be worth more than numbers to CC but I think that has changed.

Here's the whole story... Mark was awesome to me when I purchased my new '06. I lost that boat in a divorce, then went in search of a new one after everything was finalized. All new '09 196's were sold, so I was forced to seek out the nicest late model one I could find. Mark had an '07LE on the lot, but it was a prior club boat, and had the crap beat out of it. I found a pristine '07LE on another lot and pulled the trigger. About a week later, Mark asked if I wanted to make an offer on his (via email), and after I told him I found one on another lot and I'll have to buy my next one from him, I never heard from him again. --until I saw he had a nice used SN that we wanted to buy for the lake house and kids to beat on. I called him on in, and he was very disconnected and not really interested in working with me. That's it...nothing more, nothing less.

Anyone can check out my early PN posts where I raved about Mark and Son. I even sent a nice letter to CC after purchasing my '06 on how awesome I was treated by them. I understand he wanted to move that '07 on his lot, but I never jerked him around or lead him to believe I would buy it. I was honest that it was a too beat for me. I was shocked that he didn't tell congrats, and we'll sell you your next boat. He didn't seem like the type of guy that would've gotten upset about the lost sale.

                              5150,

Your story does not surprise me in the least. I never bought or expressed interest in a new boat. I just needed the local dealer to support the boat(s) I owned at the times. That is their obligation, in my opinion, as the only local dealer. I never got the time of day from them, major parts and/or accessories, along with the minor stuff you are willing to pay a dealer for, zero interest.
Speaking of raw deals, KenG...... There is also more to the story dating to the origin of their dealership. Lame, lame, lame stuff. Ask Mark about that.
