serpentine belt on 2005 226 air nautique

I was coming in with my family on the last run of the day (thankfully) when I heard a noise in the engine like a bird was trapped. The serpentine belt had shredded.

My questions are 1. is this a job I can do myself? 2. How do you get to all the pulley's? 3. Does this mean there is something else wrong with the boat? 4. If I can't do it myself any thoughts in the kentucky region where I can take for the best service?

    Thanks so much

All you need is a long 15 mm wrench or high quality adjustable wrench. You don't loosen the tensioner, just pull it back to relieve the tension and slip the old belt off. Then slip on the new.

I can post pics later if needed. If you were in a direct drive, the time required is less than one minute.

      Belt

Airtool is right on - very easy to do. I replaced my belt on my '04 196 last year just for reg maintenance. The new belt went on VERY tight. Was a little struggle but I assume stretched out some after a few hours but just be prepared, the new one will go on very snuggly.

Hardest part will be getting enough room/leverage to get enough slack on the tensioner. You can do it!
