I was always told to have them balanced. I bought a new set of tires for a utility trailer and the guy at the tire shop asked if I wanted them balanced. I said yes because mount and balance was included. His boss at the shop told me that was an old tire guy trick to try and get out of the work and he told me to have the guy balance them.00 SAN 210 (previous boat)

All highway tires should be balanced IMO.
One comment ....before you have it done. Agree with the man doing the work what method of weighting and what types of weights will be used. A good explanation of why and why not the others would be a good topic to discuss as well.

I don't know if you "should" or not, but I'm sure it can't hurt. Probably a trailer-dependent thing, but the rear set of tires on my tandem Ram-Lin seem to scrub more when I'm maneuvering the trailer for tight turns (at the ramp, my driveway, etc.) and thus wear quicker. I keep an eye on conditions of the front and rear tires and have rotated them to try and keep them wearing more evenly. Never had them balanced, altho our rig sees very little highway mileage. Not an excuse, just haven't bothered to get it done.'08 Super Air Nautique 210
