Special Edition Nautiques

Most car makers have a special package for there cars Example

BMW has the "M" series
Mercedes has the "AMG" and the Maybach
Ford has "SVT"
Porsche has "Ruff"

Im sure theres lots more but you get the point.

Nautiques has there "Team Edition" IMO its not that diffrent then the other modles. Nothing really stands it apart from the others. Do you think there is room or a market in the line up for a tricked out SUPER AIR,
the boat would be outfitted with all the goodies from the factory, Like

A big stereo system. Up graded alternator extra battery's tower speakers tower lights. Engine performance upgrade. Unique gell coat graphics. Custom intreior colors/patterns, LED Interior lighting. Custom trailer, with nice wheels and all LED lights, the list goes on.

Also I would like to see the tower illuminated somehow, such as small LEDs simply drilled in. Same LEDs could be placed under rubrail to make the boat glow on the water at night. Lit up platform. Unique docking lights. Unique horn--the stock one is lame. Top-of-the-line matching trailer. Different prop. Sport helm design. Heated seats--maybe.

Grant, are you working with West Coast Customs to start a Pimp My Boat show? You'd be the right guy for it!

I for one would not spend the extra money for that stuff when I could add it to my Team Edition myself for half the price CC would charge for it.

What would make it unique is that the extra stuff CC would put on it would have to be stuff that cannot be added aftermarket easily, otherwise it would defeat the purpos of it being special.

Correct Craft has done "special" edition nautiques before. They did the silver nautique in 86, the signature edition in 95 and 96 and a body glove edition in 95. They have been hit and miss. They also made the paragon in 93. It was a gorgeous boat but very expensive. They did well with the signature editions. They had 100 of them for each year and they had their own special colors that were never offered again. In the Body Glove edition, I think they only made 50. In my opinion it was pretty ugly but people bought them. I guess it all depends on what they do to make it special and what the "special" price is.

Jeff I would have no clue that was a Masters Edition if you didn't say it. What would make this cool would be somethign that really stands out, like the Ferrari of all ski boats. Something that would make the guy in the new X-Star driving by go "holy ****!"

You mean like the corvette edition that 'bu did where it resembled a vette and the trailer had vette rims?

In Grant's example all the cars were based on functional performance mods first, then the visual mods are subtle and secondary. So if CC offered a special edition with the ZR6 engine and a supercharger bolted on, I would be first in line.

Just saying that the little LED's Grant was talking about being put in on the bottom of the rubrail all around the boat, it would light the boat up on the water at night. I think that would look awesome and sure attract some attention.

Yes a Supercharged motor would be awesome. When I had my ford 150 lightning CC was playing with that all red Ski Nautique ski fly boat with the supercharged lightning motor in it I was told that they were trying to offer the supercharged motor as a option back then and since then they have dropped the Idea due to reliability issues with the lightning motor. Plus it had aluminum heads. To me that would be a reason to think about getting a new boat. If it had REAL upgrade's not just LED light's LOL The boat that were talked about above I never saw them or even realy heard about them, that part of the problem. If they were going to do a specail edition it better be special. The paragon was pretty wild but I dont think to many people wanted a boat that looked like that, Im into unusual things and IMO that thing was retro in a weird way, It looked like a PT cruser with wood panneling stickers down the side. I hope no one reading this has one if so Im sorry,

I agree that a supercharged motor would be great! I got a chance to check out two of the prototypes a couple of years ago. They were really cool! Too bad it didn't become a production boat. It was fun watching it pull skifly though!

IMO the new Mastercrafts has been on the edge as far as Bling, There boats have way more of custom feel with All the CnC aluminum it has a way more of a one off feel than the cast stuff that CC does, and yes that X star is sort of what Im talking about, Like it or not its diffrent and you can tell. Im not saying CC copy it but you get the Idea a factory Special Edition. Somthing thats way diffrent in a good way,

That xstar is too gaudy (sp?) for me. I personally wouldn't buy it. I do like the look of their 197 on the outside. I personally think that their interior is pretty boring looking. The other problem that I have is these other companies are making boats that resemble some of the I/O brands. There is the pickle fork that came from Cobalt and then you have Malibu and MasterCraft using the same type of lines on the outside of the boats. I took a close look at the xstar a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't too impressed with it. The coolers are small, the tower is really, really heavy to fold down, it requires more work to get it down, I still don't like the look of the dash pod and the seats have never been comfortable to me. I guess you can call me a conservative Nautique kind of guy. I agree that CC can do a little more to "dress" up the boats and put some "bling" in them but overall, I think they do one heck of an awesome job with them. I know when it is a CC coming down the lake but it is questionable as to what is coming down the lake when some of the other boats are out there. They don't have a unique look that sets them apart.

I don't like how the gauges sit on top of the dash. Obviously MasterCraft makes a quality product, but certain aspects of their newer designs just don't appeal to me. I guess I too am a conservative when it comes to boat design. I still have a little trouble with the curved rear hull/deck lines of the 211/226, but they are growing on me more and more. I have a feeling that's going to be a familiar design with any new Correct Crafts...
