that x-star is a very, very, very cool looking boat (and i generally for for the understated look) btw, the led lights is a very good idea and looks great ( have seen custom cars ).

looking where correct craft has positioned their "core" message- it is all about "quality" and it is very evident in the areas you dont see ( construction etc), the pcm motor, handling, hull design, and long term value

t woud be great to have correct craft have an all out boat, but the price would be very, very high and out of reach of most boaters.

i would suspect it is more of a "statement" product that really doesnt make the company a whole lot of money ( this is all speculation on my part). the market segment is small at this level and profitability is low because the boat is so darn expensive and has to priced on what the market wil pay.

i think mastercraft is the only company that offers a wakeboard boat at this price level. most companies are positioning "lower priced/quality" models or "sister" companies ( moomba,v-rides etc) there is alot more money to be made

having to spend $50-$60k for a boat is at the upper end for most people and $75k-$85k is at the extreme top end (i am guessing on how much that x-star gos for)

now if correct craft could keep the quality/reputation AND add the bling AND keep it in the same $50k to $60k price range- now you have a winner....

btw, i still prefer a "understated" look...if done right it is more "overstated"..

I had a MC ProStar for years and I am in no way knocking MC but I don't like that boat. It is just to gaudy looking for my taste. I meen all that boat needs is a set of those hyd. lifts for the trailer so you can make it bounce at stop lights, and some fuzzy dice for the mirror. That boat is right out of Pimp My Ride.

I bet if someone would make a fishing lure that looked like that thing the Bass would eat it alive.

I would like to see CC partner with a company that could make changes during production.

BMW works with Alpina to create a custom high end ride that meets strict BMW standards. BMW delivers the vehicles to Alpina to finish the car before it is delivered to the customer.

The end result is a car that includes performace and looks that is different than the standard BMW and is labeled with Alpina.

Grant, looking for a new job? Maybe you could start a company like Alpina LOL!

Just remember the teal and purple boats of the early 90's. Those color schemes were big back then. Top of the line. Now we just laugh at them. Will the paint job on Mastercrafts X-Star that is good looking now be timeless for the 2nd or 3rd owner or just laughed at? I'd put money on it. But, to each his own. Keep it basic, you'll like for alot longer.

Good point. 74 skier. I was thinking the same thing about the Flame pant jobs on the current boats, MB sports and the Sangers and Centurions, You want a set up that looks cool but somthing not so trendy that it looks dated in 5 years, I think CC has gel patters have always been some what timeless

I think that particular X-Star will still look very nice in a couple of years. If it didn't, I think it would be because of the flame design, not the colors. The colors are very basic, blue, black, and white. I put a lot of thought into that when I was deciding to go with the new green or classic vapor blue. As you can see, we wen't with the blue in fear that we would laugh at the green in 3 years. Nonetheless, we still love the dealer's all orange 216 and still think thats hot.

I think any special edition would have to start with performance, which means the Zr6 would have to exclusive to it. Then the design would have to in line with CC's conservative style. That doesn't mean it has to be boring, it just needs to be done tastfully. Think of the difference of the original M3 with huge body molding and the newer ones.

Also, corporate affiliation is out - sorry Body Glove. I also don't want any pro skier's signature scribled all over the bow. I realize that without outside corporate support it may be very expensive, but so be it. It'll be a halo edition for CC. Would that be a bad thing?

For sure, they should make the Master's Edition similar to a Indy or Daytona Pace Car. Special engine and graphics exclusive. That would not rule out a performance edition like BMW's M or Audi's S.

MC makes a distinction between their Pro and X series boats to their Maristar line. I'm not sure what specifically the differences are, but perhaps making the Limited a dedicated luxury edition would be a good start. So you'd have the base Signature, the luxury Limited and then the performance Team with the exclusive ZR6.

BTW, I really think today's gel coat scheme is the best ever and would like to see it incorporated into the 211/226. Jeff, I agree, the round back is hard to like. I also never was a fan of the Euro style stern either.

Do you think anyone at CC checks this site for ideas like this...?

Don't forget CC's "Standard Nautique". (I think it was only offered for '94) It only had a white hull with a Nautiques decal on each side - no colors, no radio, no back seat, base engine... I saw one for sale not too long ago, but they wanted a ridiculous amount of money for it. I don't think they knew what it was and that it should have been priced lower than a regular Nautique.

Do you think CC should offer the 176 again? Perhaps as an "entry level" boat?

PCM marinizes GM motors, correct? Does GM offer a V-10 yet? A motor like that would probably tear off the mounts and skip across the water like a Looney Tune cartoon... LOL.

I've said it before, but I'd still like to see CC do a "Classic" SN... Done with classic colors from the 60's with lots of chrome and/or brushed aluminum. No giant "Nautique" decal on the sides... (They all look dated after a few years...) Maybe just a "Ski Nautique" badge where the older boats had the Correct Craft logo. Or, even better, put the CC logo there and put "Nautique" on the stern. (The best view is from behind the boat!)

The Paragon paid tribute to thier old wooden boats... Why not take the next step and honor the early fiberglass boats they built.

We're up in Maine and we're one of three 60's era CC's on our lake, they all hold up well styling-wise. They just look classy.

If the car companies can do classic styling on modern cars (Chevy's SSR, Ford's new GT, Chrysler's Prowler and PT Cruiser, etc.) , why can't a boat company do it?

Best wishes to everyone... Hope 2005 brings everyone health and happiness.

Skylark, I like your retro style idea too. I boat in Maine every year and always see older CC's. I'm all for it but the problem is getting it right. I like cars like the new beetle and thunderbird, both designed by Mays I think. Maybe CC should consult with him for a limited edition.

Sounds like there are going to be some Billabong Air Nautiques made in the near future. It doesn't sound like they will be sold to the public, but one will be GIVEN AWAY through an online contest. They'll mostly be around as promotional boats. For more information, see THIS ARTICLE.

Visiting the forum and ran across this topic. First of all I am not a Nautique owner, but feel they make a great boat. I agree with the concept of having a "limited" boat, something that stands out as being different. That is why I purchased my boat, not as a show off but to be different.

Grant, you're boat is one of the best looking Nautiques I have seen.

35th Your boat is a good example of what Im talking about. The things they did to your boat stock did not come on ay other Mastercraft, Thats what was cool. Im not sure of all the thing's but I remember, Chrome under water gear & tail pipe's,and Manafolds ugraded motor and dash/ trim peices and of corse the stars and stripe's gell pattern, I didnt think your boat came with a tower, let us know, I remember seeing your style of boat at the boat show and it stuck with me how cool it was. Nice set up

Thanks! Like you mentioned the boat came with exclusive options at the time. Now many of them can be purchased from MC by design. Some of the notables are, as you mentioned: Custom gel coat pattern with Stars design, Stainless windshield, dash panel, rudder, fins, pylon, also has the LQ9 with stainless manifolds, tandem trailer with stainless fenders and custom rims/tires, combination teak/fiberglass platform, Polk/Momo stereo, Perfect Pass.....to name a few.

I added the mini tower. The boat is a head turner both on and off the water....even down here in Orlando...in CorrectCraft country.

Let me know if you want to see any more pics.

No, really I have read through this site often and decided to post today. If Nautiques did something special again like the signature series back in the late 90's...............that was a good looking boat. Side note, I worked in the factory back in the summer of '94. That was HARD, HOT and ITCHY work. Always have admired CC's.
