Difference between 93 mastercraft ps205 and a 94 sport nautique

just sold my bowrider and want a good ski boat first and wakebaord boat second.
a third option is a 1997 regular nautique for roughly 800 cheaper than the other two.

ps205- bad-250 miles to get it, good- perfect condition with bimini and cover, 400 hours
regular nautique- bad-only seats 6, we usually go out with 7, good- 100 miles away perfect condition, perfect pass no cover or bimini but was always garaged 400 hrs
sport nautique- bad-seats are a little rough, 800 hours, good- 100 miles away, bimini, cover, ski pole,
just want a little advise on these 3 boats, hoping to have something in next 48 hrs

If you usually go out with 7 people, then none of those boats will work very will except for the Sport Nautique.

The open bow in the Pro Star will work for carrying 7 people, but you can not ski with 7 people in the boat.

If you want a good ski wake, get the Ski Nautique and take out 3-4 people at a time.

Nice. Already read at least one stupid comment on the MC site where you asked the same question. All three are good boats. For what you've described as your use case, I'd look a the 205 and the Sport. The 97 Ski is far and away the best ski boat of the three and far and away the worst wakeboard boat of the three.

The MC might be a bit better in Slalom skiing than the Sport. The Sport is a bit better wakeboard boat than the MC. I think the sport is slightly bigger, but ICBW.

Ultimatley, both good boats, and you should drive, ski, and wakeboard both, decide what you like and go for it.

thanks, may have lost out on the sport, now its down to the 97 nautique or 93 ps205. one side of me says screw it and someone stays home but, kind of not my nature to do that after coaching 20+ sport teams at city/ymca

If you're not in a hurry, there are a number of nice used boats hitting the market, depending how far you're willing to travel for exactly what you want. In a way, it's sound like neither is the "right" boat for you. Naturally, I love the SN, but the 205 is a nice boat as well. I'd look for something a year newer to get an EFI motor, if you decide on a 205.

I replied to your post on thec forum as well. Those first gen. 205s are great little ski boats, but will not outski a 97 sn. If you load them up with people, the wake deteriorates for slalom.

I take my 1997 Ski Nautique out wakeboarding all the time. I have a factory extended pylon in the boat, and when wakeboarding, I also use a "ten foot Pole" brand pylon on top of that.

The boat works well for people progressing up to an intermediate level of riding. It teaches you to learn to cut. I have had many people throw flips and 360 spins behind my boat, with out additional ballast, other than passengers, and I am pretty sure i was still under the recommended maximum weight for my boat.

Having said that, from about 22 miles per hour, and above, the fact that was designed as a three event boat starts to show itself, the wake does flatten out, even weighted.

A Ski Nautique will be the best handling, quickest accelerating, most fun to drive boat of the three.

I am biased because I have a 1997 Ski Nautique. For me, the fact that it has the best wake, the best tracking, and the best handling of the boat you mentioned means there is no argument on what boat to get. It also has more than sufficient speed for barefooting. The only thing about my boat that is a minor issue it that I am on a show ski team, and when using my boat for (skier) around the boat maneuvers, the back end of the boat will not break loose, and it makes the act more difficult for the driver and skier, or skiers.

BKH got it right. You need to test drive, and ski behind each boat and make your own decision.

I had a 1993 Prostar 205 and really liked the boat. My gripes were that it seemed to flex a lot and was much more of a rattle trap than my friend's early 90's sport nautique, and 93 ski nautique. I now have a super air (2001) and it is much more solid than the mc. Personally, I'd go on condition and price. Both boats are great, but if one is significantly nicer than the other, I'd go with it.

I agree, you really need to get out on the water in each of the prospective boats. Although with seven people in the boat you may have a difficult time in either getting the desired ski wake with either boat. Buy a cheap pontoon and take turns, makes life a whole lot easier, plus then u can bbq during the day as well. just my 0.02

if skiing is in the cards.....

it's easy to add weight and make a decent wake for boarding and surfing.... the narrow hulls drop in the water and make pretty thick wakes not just tall looking....

you can't really reduce the wake if it's bigger than you want for skiing

i have posted twice in the last 2 days that SN are decent for boarding which i think they are. they are no where close to a super sport SAN or sport

i have owned one of all three. . .slalom the ski will be best then the mc then the sport. . .wakeboard, reverse order. . . solid ride both nautiques hands down. . .the sport has a playpen design with cc did on purpose to avoid the flex of the mc. . . sport will have much more room. . .i have owned both of these at the same time and it looks like you can put the mc down inside the sport. . .

have a 95 sport with gt 40 for sale in good condition. . could deliver to alabama call me at 870 926 4828 if you have not pulled the trigger yet

Don't know much about the other boats but you will likely be happy with the 205. It has a good slalom wake and is a well built boat. I had a 92 for 14 years and was very happy with it.
