3 way vales with Simer pumps

I feel stupid... I just re-did my ballast system in hope of an easier design only to find out that the FlowRite V5 3 way valve wont' work with a a reversible self priming pump like the Simer. The pump actually pulls open the flapper on the closed side and sucks air when I am trying to emply one bag. In my system I use the 3 way valve to direct flow in and out of two different bags. I had been using a manual value and I replaced them with the V5 so I can do all the directing from the driver seat and not have to ask someone to "flip that valve, close that valve", etc.

Has anyone found a 'remote' 3 way value that do the job? What about these TH values I read about all over this site? I kinda think they are almost identicle to the FlowRite but maybe they work differently...?

    Thx.

The TH valves are different from the flow-rite valves. The TH valves are similar to a "ball" type of valve, not a "clapper" style. I haven't seen the three-way's personally, but I would assume they are constructed the same way as the two-way's.

I spoke to TH valve and their "Diverter" valve is a ball vale, though not air tight. I would try it except that it only comes in 10 ft cable... and I need 17 for one side, and probably 13 on the other.

I think I am going back to the hand operated valve...

Are you sure you can't use the stock cables (flow-rite) with the TH diverter valve? When CC offered the TH valves as replacement for the flow-rites, you just had to make a minor modification to the new valve, in order to utilize the stock cables. I'm pretty sure the stock cables are 12 to 15 feet long.

Also were do you have the cables routed? I am using the stock cables for another purpose as well, and I was able re-route them down the center of the boat towards the rear, then into each locker. You might be able to make up for a short cable with longer hoses and relocating your valves.

hmm... the guy at TH said the valve would not actuate with 15 ft of cable, but maybe it is worth a shot. My actuators are located right behind the driver seat. I made a panel and mounted it to that post that is there. The pumps are located in the rear lockers, so teh Port side is 17 ft (with radius' so the cable isn't pinched). i am going to order a TH diveretr valve and test it for pulling air when closed and see how it works in case like you say, I can make these long cables work.

          Thx!
