Malibu Open

So, what are the chances that someone--i.e. Dr. Jim Michaels--will break the current slalom record? From what I've read, if this guy qualifies, there is a real chance. Especially since the Malibu Open will be on his private lake.

CC better cross their fingers that this guy does not get it done behind a Bu. If CC were smart they would sign this guy up. (If he's not already signed up. I've seen pics of him skiing at his place behind a 196.) I wonder if signing him up as a CC rep would hold him back from breaking the record behind a RLXI--assuming he had the tourney wrapped up.

What's the story with this guy? I just recently started hearing about him, but what I have heard sounds pretty cool. Evidently this guy doesn't practice normal slalom techniques, and skis way more sets in practice than most other serious slalom skiers. From the way things sound, he might really be someone to watch.

Every picture I've ever seen of him he's skiing behind a 196. Jeff, there is a lot of info on him on Schnitz's site and others. He's an insanely wealthy dentist, champion chess player, and airplane racer who has his own lake in his back yard and skis constantly. I hope to shoot up to the tourney if I ever find out the date...

You see him behind a 196 because that is the lake boat from Belle Aqua. I bought the black one a year ago. They now have a red one with a new one on the way. If it goes like last year everyone practices on the lake boat the week before the open until Malibu arrives with their boats.
