Surf problem: stbd side wash for the goofy footed (left hand prop)

Wow, port side is sweet, stbd side is a wall of wash...Does any body know the cure for setting up ballast / speed for the "off" side surf wave? Luckily I ride regular and the left hand prop on our 211 works for me on the port side.

But a few folks ride goofy and aren't comfortable riding port side with their back to the wake.

So, yesterday's set up for the stbd side was: full belly and stbd tanks; 350 lashed to the stbd sun pad; 370 under the port seat bench (I know, but we were in a pinch for time) and 350# sac in stbd bow seat. Lots of crew: me driving, two ladies sitting on the stbd side cooler seat, two kids (140# total) on rear bench, and two small kids in the bow. PP at 10, hydro gate left in slalom.

I have a different hull, but my experience with surfing the "off side " is that you need to add weight in the rear corner until the wake is big and clean, then add start adding foward weight/pick up speed to lenghten the pocket. Can't speak for the 211 so I may be out of place, but on my SANTE, that weight distribution would never work surfing the "other side" . Seems to me that you have to much opposite side and foward weight, both of which will wash the wake.

Do a search, I think Mikeski may have some good ballast info on the 211, or was it Clubmyke?

I think you should get rid of some of the weight. We tried to set up a 2007 211 one time and had a **** of a time too. I would get rid of the 350 on the stbd sunpad, and under the port seat. Try increasing your speed up a little too.

I believe it was Clubmyke, but, without looking, I think his is the older reverse (correct) rotation.


I really do not like that they switched all the boats to LH rot. At all.......

Not sure if the 211 holds true to the same rules of the 210, but what I found, in order to get a good wave opposite of the prop rotation it is not so much weighing the back end down. Instead, try to keep an even "lean" from transom to bow. I usually try to keep the water line just at the bottom of the rub rail from the back of the boat to about the beginning of the windshield (aft portion). We r typically able to get a clean wave approximate 20 ft from the boat

I have a 2007 211 and here is what we use. I pulled out the stock tank and put a 1100 pound sack in there. I figure we get between 800-900 pounds when it is full. We then put a 400 pound bag in the pow on the side we are surfing. We roll it side to side. I have found if you have much weight on the other side the wake washes out. You need to put the largest people on that side. If there is not enough room for everyone put the lightest people on the other side. We surf that side between 10.3 and 10.7

Port side we use a 750 bag in the locker and 400 pounds in the walk way. Move the bag over in the front and go for it.

We don't but the bilge runs after we surf that side. I am not sure if it comes in the vent or the rub rail. I think it is the rub rail.

I think the most important part of our hull is keeping the boat leaning. My son will pull the boat over to set the water on edge.

I forgot one other thing. We fill the belly tank half full. The theory is the water can run to one side. I am not sure it helps.
