    2001 Air Nautique Speedos

I have a 2001 Air Nautique with the digital speedos and tach. I have changed out the speedos 3 times. Two of the times through warranty and one time on my own dime. The third speedo gave out last year and since have been going bye the tach, well up to now anyway. This weekend my tach went out. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any response.

Go to nautiqueparts.com and order the analog versions. They have a package for the tach and speedo. I am not sure about the 2001 versions, but I know the 02s were known to crap out and required replacement. Use the promo code from this site and I think you get 10% off

Thanks to both of you for pointing me in the right direction. Looks like they have replacements for both the tack and speedo.

Are these plug and play replacements or will there be a reinstallation process?

        Thanks again

The Tach is plug and play (almost). The new speedo does require a 2 inch hole thru the hull for the new sending unit /paddle wheel unless you have PP. If you have PP I believe your kit ties into PP.

I was hesitant about the 2inch hole. But said and done it wasn’t really a big deal. Measured, double checked, and triple checked before making my hole. I also got 2 strong magnets so I could see exactly where the hole would be inside the engine compartment. Works well no complaints.

I would just put perfect pass stargazer. I did a few years back and now I would rather own an older with PP SG than a newer one without. Best money I have ever spent on my boat.

When I purchased the boat new it came with Perfect Pass on it. Does that mean I won't have to drill a 2 inch hole?

Like you I'm not crazy about putting a 2 inch hole in the bottom of my boat!!

Er906 let me know how your install goes and if you have Perfect Pass?

74green the photo's are helpful but I couldn't tell where exactly you drilled the hole. It looks like it is adjacent to the bilge pump? Anything special about drilling? I would think I drill from the outside of the hull to avoid splintering the gell coat.

                  Thanks again.

I would call white lake. I believe if you have PP you do not need to drill a 2inch hole and just do some electrical connections into the PP system.

I drilled according the locations on the DIY section which was 106” from the transom and 4” off the keel stbd side.

Here is the kit instructions posted from the DIY I believe it refers to PP install in it. http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/at...5&d=1269651799

I just replaced my digital tach with stargazer. Both the tach and speedo were going bad and I will later replace the speedo with one that uses the pitot tube.

Now that we have the PP display, we don't even glance at the speedo or miss the tach. It displays rpms, actual speed, desired speed, engine hours, and even a clock. It really negates the use of a tach or speedo other than a back up. The only reason I will eventually replace the speedo is because I don't want something "nonfunctional" on my boat. I just can't see spending too much on something I don't plan on using nor drilling a hole in the boat for.

Its GPS based Pefect Pass. No need for paddlewheels/drilling holes.

^ here is some info about it. It is perfectpass's latest product. GPS controlled and not paddle wheel. Starts at $1200.

You stated you already have PP on your boat. Does it still work?
