Good water and good times on Lake Whitney

We abandoned the lake our house is on in search of some good water and this was the result. We ended up on Lake Whitney which, as seen in the pictures, is a beautiful deep lake that gave us some of the best water we've seen all year. I was really impressed by the wake our 216V put out once we got some good water to get it dialed in. Pulling at 24.8 mph in the attached photos with stock 700 pounds, 300 extra in the bow and 500 on the rear seat. So not a lot of extra weight, but a very nice clean ramp. Hopefully the rest of the month will prove to be this nice of riding conditions.

Good to hear. I have also heard good things about Lake Whitney. Cedar Creek will be getting better though as we get into the Fall.

I'm guessing that's not you in the pictures Jerry!

Not me, the only reason or time I look like that is by accident. That's a good friend of mine who far exceeds my capabilities. We got some pretty good video too. I'm hoping you're correct abotu Cedar Creek, we're very jealous of Whitney after last weekend, in fact considered selling our house at Cedar Creek and getting one at Whitney.

Just be sure to test out both lakes on multiple days if you can. I have not been on Whitney, but have heard good things. It also has the benefit of being closer to the Brazos, in case you are not happy with the lake on a particular day and feel like trailering. CC is not known as a good wakeboarding lake. That said, I have had some epic days on CC (during the week). I used to have pretty good weekends too, before they raised the stupid bridge. %$@$#$!

Also, I am not sure you can have a dock on Lake Whitney. Be sure to check on that. If you are looking at an existing house, I guess it will be obvious, but if you are looking at lots to build on, beware of this if it matters to you. It's a Corps lake.

You can't have a boat house on Whitney, there are existing houses with boat houses that come up for sale every once in a while. We've been to Whitney countless times, always had great water some where on that lake. The only bad thing about getting a house there is none are actually on the water like they are at Cedar Creek. Good thing is they are real cheap because of it.

We had a place at Whitney on the upper end for a dozen years or so. It is great water in the upper Brazos area, but as has been mentioned, Whitney is a Corps of Engineer controlled lake and was built for flood control. It's normal level is 533ft, but can go as high as 570 I think, so the corps will not allow homes or anything close to the water. That's why we had to give up our lease and move out. We now have a place at Possum Kingdom which is a BRA controlled lake, but you can build close to the water.

PK is an incredible place to both hang and play, just too far to make the amount of trips we make. We make day trips to Cedar Creek and could do that to Whitney as well, they are both just over an hour away. If I remember right, PK is more like 3 hours from Dallas.

Depending on where you go, I think PK is like 2 - 2:30 hours away from Dallas.
