    All you Python Owners

I might have found a python (502 version) and could be interested in it. Just wondering some of the hours you have on yours. Any major rebuilds after so many hours?

This boat has 400 and change hours. If this was a GT40, 330 Excl. or 343 Excl. wouldn't blink and just buy it. I'm not use to these motors

    Thanks

400 hours is just getting broken in. You won't be running any higher revs with the Python than with the excal.

I'm sure Wakeslayer will be joining in soon but I wouldn't be afraid of the durability of the motor at all. It is built to handle way more than 430 horses. Buy it, you will love it.

Yep, she is just getting warmed up at 400 hours. I am somewhere in the high 4's at the moment. My friend's twin to mine has 1400 and change. Only thing he has done is replaced the thermostat. Incidentally, he is the guy that used to own the airnautique.com site, and did that write up on the 502 that was referred to on WW and in Brad's thread yesterday.
I know one guy blew one up last year at Green Lake, but methinks he was a tad hard on his. No idea on his hours. I believe he was rebuilding and not even considering changing. They seem to use a little oil, but I just check it periodically. I may add half a quart over an average season of 50-70 hours. Do yourself a favor if you buy it, and order a remote oil filter kit. Worth it's weight in gold.

The one that blew up in Green Lake in '09, was back this summer, rebuilt and good to go. That thing has some giddy-up to it!

Yeah thats the one. I almost bought it from the owner before that guy. The new owner emailed me and was pretty pissed because the PO didnt tell him about it sinking. He told me he fixed everything on it. I think he did end up selling it.

I drove 11hrs one way from WI to MO to buy that boat-

Didn't have a good feeling about the boat. Ended up not buying because of spider cracks in the rear transom. And I didn't think the boat handled very well.

However, the guy in MO, never once told me it had been sunk or rebuilt or anything.

And I asked if there were any issues with the boat.

Had no problem billing himself as a nice Christian, blasting gospel music for the tower, and praising Jesus all morning long....

But had no issues deceiving me, letting me spend 22hrs making the drive, and money on gas and hotels...

I'm guessing he sold it, as the other ads have fallen off-

Total d-bag move if he knew. People are scum bags. Buyer beware !!!!

I do think that if everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was replaced, you would be fine.

Glad you guys caught it, and ksdaoski27 , glad your little voices stopped you from grabbing the boat. Hard not to after your investment to go get it.

I am confused. Was this seller the guy who bitched to seth? Or is he the third owner? I question even the "needing to sell for medical bills" statement. I have always been a cynical person, and nothing that I have seen as of late (this post, act's post, etc) has changed my opinion.

My Python engine has been great! Knock on wood!! I've put about 400 hours on mine since I bought it, Dec. of '04. I've had a water circulation pump go bad, replaced a starter (probably didn't need to), plugs and oil changes. I've noticed that mine will use some oil, but not much between 50 hour service intervals, maybe 1/2 qt to 1 qt. Mine is still showing 60 psi while running hot, and pulls like a train.

I just wish I had went to this board before driving! Unfortunately, I was out of town, working on the week leading up to driving out there, and didn't have good access.

It was hard not to buy it, as it was a good price, I had just driven 11hrs non-stop through a major Midwest thunder storm (rained 10hrs straight on the drive), and had been up for around 30hrs straight at that point! And I really wanted a boat!!!

Piling on, then I'll stop, but here's an email from Aug 15th, calling out the condition and no issues. Most other communication was done via phone calls.....lesson learned, buyer beware!
