210 or 230?

Looking ahead, I anticipate our next boat would either be a 2008 and later pre-owned 210 or a pre-owned 230/236. Is it simply a matter of how much room do I need? I am looking for any feedback from those of you with experience on either (or both). Also, if you can give me any insight to improvements or features available on certain year's models to be sure to get and / or do without.

Having owned 3 230's, I could not go back to a 210. The layout of a 210 is great, but there's no comparison in terms of size. However, all that size costs more, takes up more room, burns more gas to move, and needs to be stored somewhere...

I would not go back in size for a lot of reasons

we ride with 4 people. we chose the 236/230.

the weight difference between the two is 500lbs (210 is 3800, 230 is 4300). the beam difference is 2.5" (98" on the 210, 100.5" on the 230), and who is to say how that affects the wetted surface. i do not notice an appreciable difference between the 210, 220, or 230 as far as fuel consumption w/ either the 5.7L engine or the 6.0L engine. As for the weight, do you really think you are burning a whole lot more gas if invited two extra friends?

I have owned and enjoyed both. I had a great 210 this year, and a 230 the year before, and a 236 before that, and an old-style 210 before that. After owning the 236/230 for two years, the 210 felt a little small, but I really liked the boat, and loved the wake. Next year I am hoping to be in a 230 again.

i'm not sure about ya'll, but spending most of my time in the older style 210's and occasionally in the newer ones i can't get over the size increase. i would never get anything bigger unless i had to take on bigger waves and more rollers than average.
