New boat Owners - Waiting on parts?

    Hi guys,
We took delivery of our new 210 about a month ago.

We knew Z5 was going to be available until Nov/Dec which is bad but ok they told us.
Also our Top top speakers and board racks didnt come with boat, told was in country (New Zealand). Racks are here now, speakers now 1st January 2011.

I am now a bit worried about the Z5 rack. Anyone else in similar situation?

Without rack we defiantley wouldnt use in summer as New Zealand has one of the worst sking cancer rates, our sun is bad. Boat no good without top.

The speaker thing is just bad, you shouldnt have to wait months for parts that should have come with boat. Wonder if its just international customers they do this to.

    Cheers

We have been told that the Z5's are steadily arriving and should be caught up very soon and the speakers should be caught up Jan 2011

When I bought my 210 in July the dealer ordered the Z5 it because are too pricey to carry in stock. It would take a while to ship it all the way to NZ, mine was shipped freight in a giant box to my work. No Fedex, UPS, DHL overnight for this monster.

Worth the wait however. Mine came in 2 weeks from Florida to Texas.

Our dealer is pretty good but I have found feedback of information to myself an international customer somewhat not good to put it lightly. Our summer starts december and we have the worst sun, skin cancer rate in our country is bad so the rack thing wasnt great at all. Its not worth using the boat on a sunny day without a rack and I wouldnt buy a boat without one.

To get the speakers fitted we will have to bring boat back a 2 hour trip each way on my holiday early Jan to get speakers done. Im thinking mid January as dealership may be shut. This will be during/after my holiday in which the boat well get the heaviest use of the year.

We ordered our boat in April to be ready well before summer. These holdups certainly have me not happy.

Is it asking to much to buy a boat with all the options on it when it arrives and you take it away?

Due to the economy, most companies have gone from stocking large quantities of items to JIT(just in time) inventory control. This applies to companies worldwide, not just CC. Unfortunately, one of the downsides of JIT is that the manufacturer of the assembly(in this case the boat) is at the mercy of their vendors at times. It's unfortunate that you are having to wait on the Z5 and speakers. But it's also a bit unreasonable IMO, to be upset at CC over this. While CC is the one visible to you in the transaction, no amount of pressure can change the fact that the the missing items will be shipped to customers as soon as they arrive from the vendor. Believe me, CC doesn't want this to happen any more than you do.

FWIW..........I'm a telecom integrator and we are bitten by this same thing frequently. One of our manufacturers had thousands of a particular ethernet switch in stock 2 years ago. Now, we have to wait 10-12 weeks. It's frustrating, but it's a sign of the times right now.

            Hey there,
I can appreciate the situation but there was no communication of the speaker delay until now?

Good communication is the key to managing customer relations.

While the situation is what it is. If you went and purchased a car and upgraded to better stereo, do you think it is ok for the car to come with some speakers missing and told they will turn up 4 months later?
            That just wouldnt happen.

Its just a bit frustrating and wouldnt have expected any delays when purchasing a new boat

I understand what you're saying. But if the vendor doesn't have them to ship to Correct Craft, what is Correct Craft to do?

The Horn Drivers speakers were a last minute change to improve performance over the past speakers, the delay is due to the change over. It is definately going to be better in the long run with the LED lit, horn driver tower speakers.

Yeah I hear what you guys are saying it just sux to think you order a new boat and struggle to get it all together months later after purchase. I just wouldn't have expected delays like that even if not Correct Crafts fault its still there product. cheers

Hayden, wonder if you could contact some dealers in northern parts of U.S. or Canada who have an order higher up the list than you and maybe get one of their Z5's shipped to you instead. In MN we're all putting our boats away for the winter now so not getting a Z5 until March/April shouldn't be a big deal for most folks.

Boats vs cars: Keep in mind that CC, like other boat mfr's, is a fairly small company with fairly small annual unit sales. One advantage is that when they're looking for components, like speakers, they can consider all possibilities and select what they think is the best. A car mfr is much more limited and can only select from companies who can deliver the huge quantities they need which may cause them to eliminate a better quality alternative. You may get it faster, but it may not be as good.

I bought the dealers 2010 demo boat which was robbed for parts. The dealer put on 2011 board racks and I am happy with all they did. But I have been waiting for 2 months for speakers, carpet, captain's chair, and a couple other small parts. The boat is usable but just doesn't feel complete. I would have expected the chair to take some time but not the others.

Hopefully it is a reflection of the economy and Correct Craft will rectify the problem.

I'm sure you bought Buxton's demo boat and if they're waiting on parts then everyone is waiting on parts. Doesn't make it right, but at least you know some dealers aren't getting preference over others and everyone is having to wait it out.
