    Sano pad on 09' 230

Has anyone else had problems with cracking and peeling sano pad? It actually was starting to peel when I bought it, and it got to a point where it pinched skin only after a few months...... Just curious.

... sure have, i ended up peeling it off the swim platform... used fiberglass resin (25 bux) and flushed up all the pad impression spots. After that i got a local "Wrap" shop to print some cool art out, worked great and took 2 days, cost maybe 100 bux for all.

if it's the same material as an 05 i'll say no, no issues. i hav a huge sheet of the black stuff i don't need if you want it. it's probably 3' by 4'. shipping+20$ takes it. any local sign shop or good car audio shop will have a good router to cut the pieces

            Warranty issue

Ok, I want to run this problem by the community and see what everyone thinks. As indicated above - the Sano pad on my 09' 230 - which I bought new in May this year, peeled and cracked. It was actually starting to peel before I even brought the new boat home but the dealer said it was not enough to be able to warranty it yet. Within 3 months it peeled and cracked so much that it actually pinched the skin of a guest - to the point that caused them to bleed. Albeit not bad - still caused this person pain and bleeding (minor) that day while out on the boat/and kind of hampered the days activities. After looking closer at the pad - it was cracked and spidered all over - the platform, the walkthrough, and step.
I took photos-emailed the dealer to which they said it would be warranted. I expressed my concern that I did not want this to happen again, and asked for the Sano to be replaced with the newer Sea deck material to which they said would have to be approved but would not be a problem. The dealer got back with me a few days later and indicated it would be replaced with the newer Sea Deck material, and that the warranty department at CC agreed.
A couple weeks later I got the boat to the dealer for the 25 hr service, a few other minor issues, and to have the Sano replaced. Again, they confirmed at that time that they would replace the Sano with the Sea deck.
After the first week - they indicated they had not received the the Sea Deck material yet. Toward the end of week two - I get a call that my boat will be ready, but they had to replace the Sano with new Sano - not The Sea Deck, stating that Sea Deck wants to be sure that they have enough to cover production of new boats, and they won't be able to produce mine.
I was a little irritated. I expressed my displeasure to which the service manager agrees. They gave me the number to CC and informed me to ask for Ron Nace, and that his department was the one that approved the replacement. Ron got back to me and informed me that there was a communication problem somewhere but no body at CC approved the replacement with the newer material, that the dealer never indicated it would be replaced with Sea Deck, and that I would have to buy it and have it installed. He informed me that there have only been very few spot problems nationwide with the Sano pad and that mine must not have been applied correctly at the factory. This is opposite of what the dealer told me, and I have even been at the dealer on 2-3 separate occasions over the last 4 months and witnessed the Sano pad being replaced on other boats (using new Sano pad), due to the same problem.
To compound things - I looked at the new Sano they installed, and some of the edges are cut to the point where they are actually sharp. They also ruined the Nautique letters across the back, with the acetone that was used to remove the old pad. (they are replacing the letters). I really feel for Correct Crafts' flagship boat, and the money I spent to buy it - that I am not asking too much to replace this junky Sano pad (which has not been right since new) with the newer Sea Deck which is what was promised to me. I am sure that the replacement Sano is going to do the same thing..... I am awaiting a call back from the dealer to see what might happen. Ron Nace was professional to talk to, but offered no other remedy. Feel free to give opinions. Am I out of line with this small request which was promised? I do have a good relationship with the dealer - and in all fairness, they just had their service advisor quit during this time frame. (Not an excuse in my book - but I am trying to be human about the whole thing)
Thanks. (sorry I got long winded)

If dealer said they were going to replace it with Sea deck they should replace it with Sea deck. I don't see why they needed you needed to call CC. You are their customer and they said they were going to replace it. Just my $0.02

Oh, thanks for the offer Gride, CC told me they discontinued the black material for the same reason, and that it became very chalky after a period of time. I am going to see what happens.

Just an update, both the dealer and CC are denying my request. CC stated it is very sporadic issue - and mine was probably just not adhered correctly. There are others who have had the sano pad pull up multiple times, and I guess I will just have to have mine re-replaced when it happens again.

This would be the dealer's issue on the Sea Deck promise. If the dealer said they would do it they should. Maybe your salesman spoke to early on the issue before actually contacting Nautique. Ask to see the warranty E-Claim. I have seen this on two boats this year which both were replaced and no further issues. Heck PM and I might even be able to get you the Sea Deck for your entire boat (kind of like the billabong 230)

Thanks for the input CoryZ. I am thinking you are correct. The way it was explained to me, is that the dealer spoke with the warranty dept - and they indicated it would be no problem. The dealer told me it would be replaced with Sea Deck. Apparently sometime after that, is when CC changed their mind. The dealer has even told me they have replaced two other boats sano pad multiple times, and thinks it would be cheaper for CC to just replace it with the Sea Deck and be done with it. I am over the Sano pad, the new stuff they put down has sharp edges where it is cut. An inferior product on a superior boat if you ask me.
What were you referring to when you mentioned about being able to get it for the whole boat? Please elaborate....

                      Thanks

The Sea Deck would cover the entire floor taking the place of your carpet. I honestly do not see CC telling the dealer they would replace the SANO pad with Sea Deck and then going back on their word. Good luck and enjoy your Nautique!
