    Rust on manifolds

My '09 210 has rust already forming on the manifolds. I am very disappointed as I wouldn't think a 2 year old boat would get rusty manifolds. Seems like a ****ty paint job. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you think it's a warranty claim?

What engine do you have? 5.7 or 6.0L? Where is the rust? Is there any water leak?

Ever run it in salt? Ever overheat it? I would guess the answer is yes to one of those questions.

There aren't any water leaks, never overheated, and since I live in Indiana the chances of me being in salt water aren't that good.

The rust is on the inside (not inside inside) of the manifolds next to the engine block

I do not know where in the assembly process the engines are painted, and how fully assembled they are. My guess is sometime after the exhaust manifolds, before all the wires and sensors are put on.
The point is, when the engines are painted by PCM, I think they are just done by a painter, in a spray booth, and to get paint into the narrow spaces between the block, and manifolds, is difficult. The paint on your block and manifolds, may have been a little thin in that area.

If you keep the engine cover closed, and live in a humid climate, it is very likely condensation can occur on the engine parts. This condensation, with thin paint can cause the rust.

The rust really will not hurt anything. It does not look good, but is harmless.

Because it does not affect how the engine runs, I doubt you have a valid warranty claim. Sorry to be giving you bad news.
