Yeah, you've got my sympathy there.

We have a high of 42 today and it snowed Saturday night. That just means you've got to get extra sets in for the rest of us.

Are you using that boat in saltwater?
Don't you know it will fall apart tomorrow.

Hey! I've been there! Wailua River in Kauai! That is probably my favorite place to wakeboard EVER! It is beautiful. Watch out for the kayakers! Not sure when I can get back to Kauai, but I really want to - can I get a pull from you when I do? I'm sure you're cheaper than the Kauai Water Ski and Surf Company.

            Isn't Shapiro out there now?

chris196 - that water is fresh (probably a little brackish as you get towards the ocean). It is the only fresh water river in Hawaii that I'm aware of. Even still - with proper treatment, I think the Nautique can handle it.

My kids and I boarded that river this summer with the ol' guy who rents time on his boat. We put in next to the house owned by the "South Park" guys. He broke out his air chair at the end of the day and wow'd us with his flips and jumps. He's livin' the life at 60+; he's my new hero.

Only down side was when he neglected to strap down a board in the rack, which fell out on a turn and cracked my son in the head. Plenty of blood, but no stitches. He felt really bad, but hey, stuff happens. Four other adults in the boat (including me) didn't notice the board either. I'd go back to ride with him in a heartbeat next time I'm on the island.

I should've paid more attention in geography class, as I had no idea Hawaii had such a sweet fresh water river! Awesome water and Dog Chapman, now that's a state I could call home! It's in the 20's today here:-)

Can I get some details RexB on Ol'guy.

Also I envy you toy40. Making payments on a boat that I only use 5-6 months out of the year is rough in the off season.

the water in the river is mostly fresh, gets considerably salty when there hasnt been much rain. its definitely somewhat corrosive but not near as bad as real saltwater. nothing good up keep doesn't fix.

It was Kenny at Kuai Water Ski and Surf. His wife was driving while he rode the chair. On one flip, he took a hard fall. She whipped the boat around to get back to him fast and the unsecured board flew out.

Like I said, I don't blame them, since the rest of us missed it too. Sometimes, stuff just happens. The best part was the trip to the closest ER (1/2 hour away), and the salty old Hawaiian ER nurse that said: "Dat boy don't need no stiches; ya'll go on, now!" When we got back to the beach house, I gave my son (18) his first parental-approved mai tai. For medicinal puposes only....
