    3 or 4 blade for wakeboarding on '85 2001?

I am about to repower my '85 2001 with a 2001 GT-40 motor with left hand rotation. My current (and brand new) Acme 542 3 blade prop will not work. This boat is primarily used for wakeboarding, and weighted down a good bit. What's the benefit in going to a 4 blade?

I'm a huge fan of the 4 blade acme 208 on my 78 martinique, which is the same hull as the same years ski nautique.

It sure pulls well with the 4 blade, and puts the nose down a bit more than with the old federal 3 blade I have as a spare.

Why Left hand? and why repowering? What's wrong with the original 351W?

With a direct drive transmission, (1 to 1) you need a left hand engine to rotate the propeller clockwise, viewed from the rear.

The 1.23 to 1 transmission in modern Ski Nautiques reverses the engine rotation do a "normal" rotation engine will turn a propeller clockwise.

My experience with a four blade is that you will a smoother (less vibration, especially in turns) pull, and a lil more low end with very little sacrifices on top end.

I do not have a clue but just call ACME and they'll tell you exactly what prop will work best for your needs.

i would go with the four blade especially with weight. i wake board most of the time and have 1500lbs of ballast and needed the extra hole shot from the 4 blade

Will you be selling the 542? I might be interested. Thanks. ben.brimer@sunpet.com
