    Flight clips or new rack?

Can anyone tell me if factory flight clips will hold a surfboard?

It depends on what kind of surfboard you're talking about. If you go with a compression molded version from one of the wakeboard manufacturers, most will fit fine. If you want a foam core, or boutique brand, most likely not.
I've got an Inland Surfer Red that will fit in the flight clips, but BARELY. I removed some of the "sano pad" from the vertical part of the clip (closest to tower) and then I put the board in traction side toward the tower, and it fights TIGHTLY.

Thanks, I was looking at getting the "Squirt". My boat has the swiveling racks, and was looking at getting a set of flight clips to hold the surf board. Would you reccomend getting an aftermarket style of rack or get the clips and modify them?

We have a foam core Ronix board that fits in the Flight Clips without any modifications - it fits snug but comfortably. All of our other boards fit without any problem - I do have slightly longer shock cord installed on the clips that I use for surf boards.

If you're only going to use the clips for surfboards, they can be "spread" or "stretched" to widen the openings up. They are stainless and are very strong, so you would need a porta-power or something like that to accomplish. The advantage of the flight clips is that the boards are tucked up and out of the way of the swiveling board racks, but, the way they mount, it can be a bit of a gymnastics routine to take the surfboards in and out of the clips...

I am pretty sure this place makes forks that will fit onto your swivel board racks that you can use to replace your WB rack with a combo rack to hold both a wake board and a surf board. Double check your bolt pattern that holds the forks onto the base plate of your existing rack and call 'em. http://www.staronewake.com/racks.html
