Boat gone due to fire

There was a fire yesterday at our storage unit and my boat was completely destroyed. I've contacted ski safe and they said the words I wanted to hear "You're covered". The adjuster is supposed to contact me and I guess we go from there. I was wondering if any one else has had to go through this, and if there was any advice on the process.
The rest of the guys in the shop, 05 MC X2, 2- 42' Sonics, 32' Thunder, 35' Baja, 30' Sensation, a restored 28' Sea Ray, 19' Sea Ray all have some sorta damage. They are all sick on what will be considered "repairable". My Excursion, a 28' camper, 00 Suburban, an 04 2500HD Quad Cab diesel, 4 corvettes were also fire damaged and we are waiting to hear how they are going to be taken care of. They think the fire started from the heater (above my boat) and that something fell and hit my cover.
Anyway, I would appreciate hearing from anyone that can offer advice.
Everyone, check your policy and understand it. Until I talked with the rep from Ski Safe, I had no idea if I was covered or not during the lay up period. Gotta also say thanks to the fire crew, no one was hurt and going into that smoke had to have been ****.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It sounds like you will get a new boat out of it (I hope) So I guess there's a silver lineing in the dark cloud.
So as far as bad things that could o happend you very lucky, Like you said no one was hurt, and your coverd, I guess thoes are the 2 most important things.

On a positive tip . It happend during the winter better than in the summer

It is amazing that the boat beside yours has relatively minor damage compared to yours. Glad to hear nobody was hurt, and that you're covered. I have wondered how something like that would work, and I'm glad to hear Ski Safe covers things like that. I have Ski Safe too, and store my boat in a similar place.

gotwake- where was the boat stored? I live in libertyville, and can give you a pull if you have no boat! I'd be curious to see where the fire was.

Sorry to hear that happened. Same thing happened to my family's way old 1970 something Ski Nautique due to electrical fire. In the end the outcome was a brand SN 2001 (the model) Seems like you're already on the same track towards the new Nautique. With the fact that no one was hurt and your covered, seems like a blessing in disguise to me...

Sure looks to me like the Sea Ray next to the burned boat has a slight tinge to it, kinda like a toasted marshmellow. My bet is it was not moved to take the pic.

Edwin- I think you're right. Plus there's all the dribbles on the floor around the boat. There's combustables all over that are not ignited around the boat also, which is weird. That would be one hot, intense, nasty chemical fire.

THe boat wasn't moved, actually until they finish with the investigation, nothing can be moved. The fire was really wierd. A camper on the other side of the building had the roof melted and the ac unit is completely gone. It was a hit and miss, my boat is gone but the spare tire mounted to the tounge is perfect. I think that because the fire dept got there so quick, fire damage was limited, but everything has heat and soot damage. All the insurance companies are looking into it, who knows what the outcome will be. Heard today that the building insurance people thought that my boat started it, and from another it was the heater, so I don't know where this'll end up. The waiting sucks.

Hey Matt - Really can't think of much right now until all this is over. So many insurance companies to deal with and still just feeling sick about it all. Trying to figure out the truck today, and the ski safe agent is supposed to be out here tomorrow. And, because I had other items stored there, we have to meet with the homeowners folks as well. It just sucks...

John J took those shots. He owns the 05 X2. This really sucks, and would never wish it on anyone. SkiSafe (now found out is Ace Insurance) well, when this is all over I'll give the details. Not as covered as once thought, just everyone, read your policys! Especially if you store with other boats.

Just found out this past Wednesday that the boat is totalled...like there was some doubt. I know it's a Nautique and all, however I wasn't getting my hopes up on buffing it out. I will do a review on Ski-Safe once this is all over - perhaps someone can learn from this, as it has been a nightmare. For those of you that have asked, I do have to keep the trailer, and once it's repaired I'll let you all know if it's for sale. Haven't fully decided on what I am going to do on the replacement, or if there will be one this year.
