There is only one reason to want electric or some other fueled boat and that is maybe Peak oil or the price of oil. There is an awesome series now on PBS NOVA and it has to do with batteries and storage potential. Check it out, we may have some new stuff soon.

Ok guys. Back to the original topic:

I went to the Raleigh boat show today and met Bill Yeargin. We had a great talk about the 200 Sport and I asked about the electric boat. He confirmed what I said in the previous comment: this is a boat to test the concept. If it goes to production it will be on whatever latest hull there is (so no 196). He also restated his comment from his article, that he drove it after others had been running it for hours and it was still going strong. So as it sits it should last more than a few runs, and by the time this goes to production technology will have gotten it to a generally acceptable level. As it sits, this boat isn't for everyone, but it isn't the waste of time some think it is. What it does show is that CC is trying to stay ahead of the technology curve, and once the industry decides to embrace it they will be positioned to continue being a leader. This is no different than what the car companies do: how many times have we seen concept cars that never go to production. It's a natural part of the business.

Right on! It won't be long and we'll be paying exhale taxes just to breathe. Maybe it could be a progressive tax system where athletes pay a higher rate, due to the heavy breathing exerted during exercise? Didn't we solve the "problem" once we banned CFC's and styrofoam Big Mac boxes?
