So I was at the Houston Boatshow last week and I went by the Cobalt booth. As I have posted before, I am a huge Cobalt fan. I am only 38 so I am not quite ready to buy one though.... I feel the fit and finish is light years ahead of any other Boat manufacturer including cc. No offense, the materials used in a cobalt are just amazing. Dont worry I own a 236 and love it! As I was checking out their boats I noticed they have a very slick fender mounting system on the sides of the boat. On each side of the boat, there are 2 stainless holes that look very similar to a ballast discharge hole, but on closer look is a push in system for the fenders. No more tying ropes off. I played with it a little bit and it appears the fender rope holds a male piece of stainless that plugs right into the hole. Very slick with nothing to snag. The plug had the cobalt logo embossed in it. I have searched all over the internet at Taylor Made, Perko, etc looking for this system. I wish I took a picture to show you guys. Anybody know where to get one? Thanks,

So I was on the cobalt website and if you let it scroll through, you will see the fender system. Thanks,

I am much more interested in the type of drive a boat has, than a new fender holder. Does cobalt make any V-drive, or direct drive boats?
Can you drive a Cobalt boat at a constant 18 MPH? or 15? or 22?

Like I said, I own a 236 and love it...I own a 236 becuase it is a v drive which is a much better boat to wakeboard and surf behind...All I meant was the quality of materials and workmanship in a cobalt is much higher than cc. Thanks for your input....I guess you never dock your boat.....I saw something that I thought would be of interest to others....

Yea, I dock my boat. But my boat has a functional rub rail on it. I have a rope that has a loop in it that drops over the pylon, that has a fender attached to it that hangs over the side of the boat. When I approach the dock, I can throw the fender over the port side, or set it over the starboard side.
The thing about Correct Craft boats is is how they tow a skier or wakeboarder. The quality of a Correct Craft boat is not so much in the fit and finish, or stainless cupholders, or stainless monogrammed fender holders. It is not in hydraulically operated swim platforms. It is not in under deck LED lighting.
In a nutshell, a Correct Craft boat is what it is because of what it does. It is solid. It is durable. You can take a Correct Craft ski boat, and it will keep going hour after hour, day after day, year after year.
There is a reason Correct Craft boats are used by water ski schools, summer camps, in ski shows. In a ski show, you can take a Ski Nautique, and pull barefooters with it. You can pull a pyramid off the dock with it. You can pull a swivel skier, and hold 14.5 MPH with it. You can pull a jump act, an around the boat act, and then hold a constant 18 MPH with a harness couple.
Do that in your Cobalt, with its monogrammed fender holders, and retractable built in mooring lines. A lot of that stuff is nice, but it is really only shiny useless bling designed to distract you from the true value of a ski (or wakeboard) boat.Last edited by DanielC; 01-20-2011, 02:50 AM.

I have seen those fender holders before Todd Weitekampt has them on his 93 Ski Nautique. There is no doubt that Cobalt is at the top of the runabout boat line as Nautique is at the top of the inboard line. If I ever got out of inboards I would buy one . Funny thing after looking at the new Nautiques at the Atlanta boat show the prices on the Cobalts seem cheap 24' for mid 60s.

DanielC, he wasn't trying to sell anyone on a Cobalt for watersports. Just telling about a nice detail that the Cobalt has.
I do agree about the Cobalt being at the top of the runabout heap. Almost. Actually, Formula has an even better fit and finish and nicely finished details such as you mentioned about the dock bumpers on the Cobalt. You could interchangeably make both manufacturers 1,2 in that market segment.Shane Hill
