The bumper advice is good. I did this with mine, had 2 per side setup at the correct heights.
Would just put them on, put the cover on and go.
Would not recommend dock lines. Too easy to get caught on something and do some damage. Besides, my old marina had dock lines attached to the docks. A better solution, I think.

It's not a straight cost analysis if you ask me. It's also a convienence and frustration analysis. If the lake you're heading too has empty ramps and easy parking, then not a big deal. If however, you frequently have long lines and not so great boaters to deal with, then the marina is worth it. I would venture to guess you'll use your boat more often with a marina.

In my case, I'm actually using my boat more on a trailer, but it's a different lake and different uses, so not a fair comparison.

I'd suggest trying it for one season. You'll never really know till you do try it.
But, you sound like the ideal candidate for it.

Both our local marinas charge in the $600/month range....even more if you have a tower!

Sign up at yours and don't look back

Holy *#@! At that point there is no way I could justify dry stacking.

Haha, you're preaching to the choir. Had a similar dilemma to yours....no boats at the apartments I lived in.

Cheaper to find a house and boat trailer, only took me a years worth of dry stack rent to get the clue.....

Btw, thinking about dragging the boat to NC this summer. My mom lives just outside of Cary. Any lake recommendations?

My recommendation is Harris. You also have Jordan and Falls, but they have some shallow areas. Jordan has the best facilities (ramps, bathrooms, etc). If you want to go a little farther, Badin and Highrock might be worth a look.

And if you're coming up 95, take a short side trip and visit Whitelake.
