    Excel or 2001 for wakeboarding

I had a question buying a boat here in the next few months and have come across a few excels in the 8-10k range. They seem to have much more room than the 2001, but was curious about how the wake is going to compare between the two?

I say get the excel. While the 2001 is well known for being a great wake boat, it has serous space issues in comparison to the excel. Plus the excel is VD, so that makes it a better boarding boat.

The issue is that the 2001 was far more popular and well known, while the excel is a rarity in comparison.

If you're just looking for the best wake, and usually ride with 2 or 3 buddies, I'd say get a 2001. However, if you'd like some more interior space and aren't that 'hardcore', a good excel for 8 to 10 K... nice!
