hydro gate on 196

can someone pleae explain the gains of the hydro gate on a 196. does it help make the slalom wake smaller or the wake bigger for othe events. my 2005 does not have one. can i add it?

If you feel the transom V you will feel a "hook" in it behind the rudder. This hook generates lift. When the TSC2 hull came out, the trick skiers hated it. Starting in mid 06 with the TSC3, CC got ride of that hook and instead put the hydrogate. When you have the hydrogate down, it effectively gives the hook in the hull that your 05 has molded in. When it's up, there's no hook and the stern sites deeper giving a better table for tricking. There would be no point in adding the hydrogate to your boat as it's already got the hook in it.
