    Catanium??

Pulling trigger on new Sport Nautique 200 Team Edition with ZR409. What are the general opinions about the Catanium system and closed cooling? There are no emmision regulations in Canada which force you to buy a CAT motor. Has anybody noticed reduced performance or fuel economy with the closed cooling/Catanium system compared to a regular 409? Thanks for your replies.

409 is a great motor and weighs less than the excalibur. Closed cooling is mandatory with the 409 whether you have the catanium or not. All pluses with the closed cooling including the fact that the heater works better at slow speeds. Cat is an expensive addition to the 409, if you don't need it I am not sure I would go that way. I have heard, maybe someone can confirm, that fairly soon there will be no option and the cat will be standard.

I have a 200V coming as well. It has the 6.0L CAT engine installed. I have been in boats with both engines and the Cat will run cleaner and use less fuel. Also if you go to sell you have more areas other than Canada.

Any CC built in 2011 has to have the Cat motor, at least in the U.S.

              No Cat

If you can order a boat without the cat, I recommend it. First, it will cost you less. Second, the cat is one more thing that you will have to worry about breaking in the future. Unlike cars, it is counter productive to get engine temps and exhaust temps up high enough for a Cat to work effectively. Fuel effeciency will not be noticably different.

My dealer was just informed by his Nautique rep that the ZR450 will not be offered on the Ski or Sport 200? Bummer!

I highly doubt CC would have gone to the trouble to get that boat/engine combo approved if they werent going to offer it for sale.

The ZR-450 is just a hotter cam and updated tune on the 409hp 6.0L, so I cant imagine why they wouldnt offer it.

The 550 SC 6.2L may be an entirely different story... I dont know if that engine will physically fit in all of the boats with the long tube headers and supercharger. It would be nice if they could shoehorn it into the 200 though.

ZR-450 is available on the Ski Nautique 200 CB and OB, Sport Nautique 216 and 226, and the Super Air 210 and 230.

Oh yeah, it will cost you about an extra $12K

I was told ~$3k over the ZR-409... which I thought would put it closer to a $9k upgrade. Maybe pricing varies per region?

Any word on the SC 550?
