As anyone skied behind a Malibu Response closed bow. I know of a 2010 and might consider buying. I'm not trying to compare with a 200, but please compare with a 196 (02-09). How is the wake, hard, soft, tail, etc. I;m not sold on this idea, but their isn't a CC dealer that I will buy from locally, so I'm running out of options.

2010 Response
The open bow response is a great skiing boat, I would assume the closed bow would be as good or better. I like the response interior over the CC 196 but I like the way the correct craft drives better. The Response OB has a larger boat feel doesn't track or turn as well, but I haven't driven the closed bow.

CWS thanks for the info.
AT - yes sold the 216. Having a 210 and a 216 didn't make sense. Ideally a 210 and ski made the most sense. I really don't need another boat, but I kept the 216 in the house garage and used it a couple times after work. The flighty and 210 are about 1.5 hours away from me in traffic.
I really don't want to own a Bu. but there is a good dealer and he has great service locally. More then likely won't get a Bu the more I type this message.
thx

As was mentioned, the Response OB skis nice. Like the 200, the CB version is the same boat, but I don't know that Bu spent the time to ensure it skied identical to the OB. I had considered the same purchase before buying my last boat, but just couldn't make the switch after looking at them. They've got a "bling" factor, but the materials used just seemed kind of cheap and cheesy to me. The carpet pile seems light, and the vinyls just don't feel as heavy duty, but that's just my opinion. The big 3 all ski well, so I think a lot of wake talk is just splitting hairs, although I've always felt CC wakes were the softest - but maybe not the smallest.'08 196LE (previous)

Those that are comparing to the "Response Open Bow" need to make it clear which model they have skied behind. The Response LXI is a totally different hull than the Response LX. The LX and closed bow use the same hull.
The LX I skied behind (~2001 model year IIRC) was a decent slalom boat. It had a small, but hard wake. It tracked OK. The wake size was comparable to a TSC2/3 196, but much harder. It handled well, but did not track or drive anywhere as nice as a Correct Craft.1990 Ski Nautique

I skied behind a friends 2009 CB Response last year. The wake IMO was a was very nice, perhaps a smidge harder than a 200, but narrower. The boat tracks a bit better than my old Response LXI and a ton better than the current RLXI. I'd say on par with a 196 wake, but track a little bit better (its a different/lighter hull).
Probably one of the best boats I've ever had pull me through a course. BTW, I believe its for sale, mint condition, and a ton le$$ than a 200.

Thanks for all the information. I talked to a couple people yesterday about the boat. While we all agree CC 200 is the best ski boat, I'm told the BU Response has a great wake at 22 off. I don't run the course and was alos told the bu had a better wake at longer rope lengths. Makes sense, CC wants you to run your PB at shorter rope, say 34 off lines.
Yep looking at a boat like the one below at the same price.
Still not sure I can do it. Even our dog in named Nautique (we call her Nauti).
Looking at a couple new 200's at dealers that the line got pulled. Also at a couple 06-09 196, which we still like the interior layout better.
I'm going to drive and look at the Bu this weekend. Only an hour away and there is a winery accross the street.
I need to get something in the next couple weeks or I'm going to be dealing with the spring fever crowd.

I don't know that we ALL agree the 200 is the best ski boat;-) Oh, I don't want to start that war again!
Son Watersports has a new 2010 200OB that they'd like to move, since CC was pulled from them. I imagine that could be one you're looking at? It has a great color scheme to it.
I amazed at how fast all the 196's I looked at over the last month are sold. There have since been some others coming into the market, but literally all I looked at a month ago are sold. Even that horrific looking red/white and blue one from Water Craft Sales.'08 196LE (previous)
