I've skied several response lx, and cb response's, they ski well, track good and handle well. That would probably be my second choice if I was looking for a true slalom machine (196 being 1st choice). You should be able to pick up one a bargain.

While I don't mind skiing the Response LX and LXI from 22 off through 35 off, the kids and slower skiers hate it around our lake. Especially the kids skiing 15mph to 24mph. They say the wake is huge. And you can see that it is in comparison to a 196, 200, or 197.

Had a Response LX, 02 until late last year, traded for an 08 SN196. Have skiied behind club 04 SN196 since 06. Response is a great boat, but with a hard pull compared to SN, both with PP set up for softer pull. Bu is lighter, faster, does not track as well in course, drivers seat in SN is much more comfortable for this old geezer!
Wake is smaller, but harder than SN. Oil change is truly A PITA!!
Leather in Bu much thicker and tighter than SN, slight edge to bu for carpet.
Not much to work on, drain it, change oil and transmission fluid, impeller change a PITA in SN with serpentine belts compared to bu.

depends on what you want I guess, great course boat--SN. great open lake hot rod-bu. A friend told me the difference b/t CC and Malibu is the difference b/t a BMW and a corvette. I skiied 28 behind the SN, couldn't touch it with bu, but I'm old...

I'm sure that other dealers would service the Nautique if you went that route, obviously they'll push you towards the brand they carry, but in the end I would bet that you could still develop a great service relationship with them.
