1991 sport naut or 1993 naut excel

Hello guys,I,m new here,I live in the Netherlands around the city of Rotterdam.I,m in the market for a cc for a budget off 15000 euro.I have 2 choices,a 1991 sport naut fully restored with tower, ballast, docking lights etc priced for around 15k.The secound one is a 1993 naut excel in nice shape with a new motor,no tower etcThis boat is listed for 10 k.I will need the boat for wakeboarding on the rivers around Rotterdam with my wife and two kids 11 and 14 years old.
What do you guys think will be the best choice?

first bit of info to consider, the 93 is all composite and the 91 has wood.

Second is the excel open bow or closed? If ti's an open bow I'd say its a no brainer to go with the excel. You can add al lot for the 5k difference. What was the reasoning for the new motor in the 93?

Make sure to go through each boat very carefully to determine the condition. What was involved in the restoration of the 91?

How many hours are on each? Salt water use?

Hey, we wakeboard sometimes in the rivers around Rotterdam! Cappelle a/d Ijsel and around!

The statements above are great. The 93 is complete composite and no wooden stringers, but you need to be sure it is a '93 and not '92 (check the hull number on the back of the boat).
I wakeboarded behind both of these boats before and the wakes a both great and suitable for wakeboarding.
A tower can be added for around 1k5.

The Sport is a direct drive and the Excel is a V-drive. Personally I think the V-drive is more family friendly, but I like the view and drive of a d-drive boat.

Drop me an email and we can discuss more if you want.

Veel plezier met de research naar de juiste boot!

I was forget to mention that the excel has a closed bow.About the history off both boats I know this. The sport is a prestige object of a cc dealer and the excel is a boat that comes from germany ,the new motor is installed there and has a few houres on it then came to Holland and hasnt run for 2 years.
I live in Capelle id ijssel also and I bet your boat is in de zandrak.
my email is knoopie1@msn.com if you want to talk more.

          Laptom,

Your boat runs on propane? Is this an aftermarket thing or is it common in Europe. Just never heard of that before.

Both. Really common due to gas prices there, but it's an aftermarket thing.

Indeed, we are running on propane, or butane or combination (LPG) of the two.
It is indeed quite common as the gasprices are really rediculous in Europe and LPG is 1/3 of the price.
Also, we keep the boat in the harbour and refueling is a bit diffecult after working hours so using light weigth portable LPG tanks it is easy and no messing around with petrol.
Third, LPG is relatively save and clean fueltype. So alot of plus's. The biggest con is that it takes some space in the boat for the LPG tanks. We have a 230 and can place 6 LPG tanks (around 7houres of boarding fuel) in the back. Still some room to spare for some small stuff then.

The conversion is relatively easy. There will be a switch between your normal petrol operation and LPG operation. So we still have 150ltr of petrol (extra ballast). The conversion was around $600,- diy job. Needs to check it by the authorities for $75,- and everything is setup for cheap, easy and clean wakeboarding.

Dutch, I send you an email about the Excel and Sport.

Are you sure that the 1993 Excel was composite.?

The flat hulls (Ski & Sport) were composite for that year, but I don't know that the V hulls (Excel / Barefoot) were.

The only reference in the sales brochure is to the flat hull, no reference to composite construction in the v hull description.

This is a debate on-going at CorrectCraftFan.com as well. If you look at the 93 & 94 brochures, they list the ICS (integrated composite stringer system) as a standard feature for all the boats except the Excel/Barefoot. No one has a definate answer on this though...

the excel is great for wakeboarding i have 1800lbs of ballast added. it has a steep wake that gives alot of pop. i would add the tower and a four blade prop. i have two small boys and there is plenty of room for my family and a guest or 2. i would see if you could demo and see what u like
