    ? Towers & Poles

Spent a week on a lake last year, where I was at a marina slip and didn't have a beach front to spread out all the ski junk (ski's, wakeboard, kneeboard, etc.). Also have the same problem just trailering to local lakes = No room in the '84'!
Thought about updating to a 90's Sport Nautique (But the look on the wife's face wasn't pretty Yellow_Flash_Colorz:. & Lord knows we'll never be in the ranks of you Air/Superair boys).
Sooo.. Looking for opinions on adding a tower or pole.
This would give me some rack space to get some junk off the floor. Would probably go with either the Monster Tower or the Flitepipe.
Like the Monster Tower, but don't like the idea of drilling thru hull (and worry about reducing the value of a classic nautique). Flitepipe seems like the choice for the older pylons and would just have to modify the bimini.
    Any comment / suggestions???

    RE: ? Towers & Poles

well i hope this helps i own an 84 as well and hve a flyhigh and skylon board rack it really helps with space. the main reason i got the pole is if gives more of the classic look i want and i didnt want to have to buy a new binimi. well i hope this helps you make your decision..

Go with a tower, many, many, many, more options with a tower than with a pole. On a tower you can put way more board racks than on a pole, you can mount speakers and lights up there as well. Also I dont think the extended pole saves the classic look when you have that strap running to the front of the boat. Just my $.02 worth.

I agree with FatBoy. I've seen a lot of refurbished 2001s and my family's is the only non-refurbished 2001 I know of. I think a tower thats done well looks much nicer than the extended pylon w/ the strap to the front.

I agree about the tower too. I love the look of wakegodess' boat with the Monster Tower.
Just putting holes in the boat freaks me out!
I just see so many 2001's being converted to wakeboard boats and figured, down the road, one without a tower will be much more classic. ???

There is one more issue... If u go for the pylon instead of the Tower, u 'll have to be really careful with side loads. If u use the boat often or if u pull a heavy guy who might lean away from the boat really far, time after time u 'll realise that your standard pylon is taking to much of a stress and eventually it will get to move sideways about an inch! I think this is the main reason to go for a tower. U 'll have your mind at ease as u drive the boat and u won't worry about what the skier might do. U might like to check two of my Nautiques (1979 with custom Tower and the 1993 model with the pylon to see what u like more!!! at

I know the look you are referring too, I had a 92SN and dicussed changing it with the 'trouble & strife', she threatened to leave, so I part ex'd the 92 for an 02 plus cash in the hope....... but bless her she is still here and is slowly coming around, although I think she is determined to spend the same amount on clothes as I borrowed to finance the difference for the boat. Just go for it she will appreciate it in the long run and so will you.

                  Thanks for the opinions.
I here pretty equal pros/cons for both though.
Leaning twords the Monstor tower, I really like the lines of it and think a black one would look great on my boat.

I thought the custom FCT cut down to fit the 2001 looked about the best.
