Just joined the forum as I just bought a 2008 226 TE, looking forward to warmer weather to get out and start using it.

I purchased a 2007 Nautique 226 a few months ago, so maybe we can learn together and not so much the hard way. I found it helpful to ask questions on the forums here and on the forums at correctcraftfan.com. I also found it helpful to search here for other Nautique 226 owners and then send them a PM if I thought they could help as a prior 226 owner.
One of the first things that I discovered about my 226 was that it has right handed prop rotation (clockwise), which means the boat in reverse naturally turns to the port side and has the biggest wake naturally on the starboard side. The 2003-2008 model years 226 may have been the last Nautique boats to have right handed prop rotation. (Starting in 2003, the 226 model was not significantly redesigned until the 2009 model year, so I am guessing that your 2008 226 probably also has right handed prop rotation.)
One of the more practical pieces of advice that I have received so far from a 226 owner here is that you can go straight in reverse if you turn the steering hard as if making the boat reverse to the starboard direction. (Won't ever reverse to starboard, most you can do in reverse is straight back or to port.)Last edited by TR4321; 02-28-2011, 02:08 PM.2007 Air Nautique 226
