I guess it depends on what you'd like to do with it? Do you need a boat the size of a 226 for family and friends? Do you need a tower and ballast? What options as well? Are they both SE's, LE's or TE's? Engines in them? There are considerable factors to consider above the year and model, I guess is what I'm getting at. The condition and hours could factor in too? Both are nice boat models... give us the details, and we'll try to help steer ya!
I've got an '07 211 Team which is a sweet boat. Slalom wakes are awesome, along with good wakeboard wakes. Its not a 200 or 196, but we aren't looking for their wakes. I don't use extra ballast. If we've got more than the family and labrador, it is a little tight. The cooler takes up the removable seat space. If you're not running slalom, I'd go with the 226 (as long as it is a Team). Interior condition and PM would be my concerns. Good Luck!

Haven't seen the boats yet. But here's the link for the SV211 . And the 226 is not listed. But great condition with 156 hrs.
My question is which is a better all around boat for the money and a beginner??

Once again, we need to know what you are doing with it. The boats have different purposes. The two questions to ask: how many people will I have regularly go with me? And do I or anybody with me care about skiing? If you regularly have more than 5, go with the 226. If you care about skiing, go with the 211. Unless you are used to a direct drive, the 211 will ski fine.
Other than a 6 Liter, that 211 is decked out - very nice! I guess it depends on the space and options you're looking for. If you plan on skiing along with boarding, you may prefer the 211. If you're bringing the neighbors along for the ride, the 226 may work better? Do you know if the 226 is an Air or standard?
I'm not sure of the significance to you, but the '08 was the 226's final year. The 211 was built through 2010.
'08 was the last year for the Generation 1 226 hull and deck.....gen 2 still going strong. Nautique has had a 226 model since 2003...with a small hiccup before the gen 2 was introduced. Can't go wrong with either boat....but that extra bit of room in the 226 sold me. Whether there are 4 in the boat or 8....the 226 give you a little more elbow room. Good luck.
The 211 is a nice boat, but IMHO, price is high...Maybe just a NW thing? I've seen '07 211's sell in the high 30's...For the asking price, you can find an '07 210 or easily a 220. I have just recently been helping a friend buy an Vdrive boat, and found many examples to support my examples.
Again, just my $0.02
2008 230 TE-ZR6
1999 Pro Air Python-sold and moved away :-(
Thanks for all the inputs guys.
I agree that 211 asking price was way high. Even the local dealer thinks we could get a 2010 211 for around $45K. We have a family of five but occasionally have others showing up. The kids are still young to know if they like skiing or wake boarding. So dilema is between a more spacious boat 226 or a crossover 211? Price range is limit to $45K.
If you have a family of 5 and do not have a strong pull toward skiing, the 226 is the way to go. I love my 211 but don't regularly load it down. My family of 4 is typical...
It is going to be your boat. The most important opinion is yours. Your wife should be in on the decision also.
You need to go out in each boat for a test drive, and ideally ski or board behind each one. That will be the best way to determine what boat will best fit your needs, wants, and possibly storage space for the boat.
Yes, that is right in the expected range. I would be thinking high 30's and that should be be for a loaded boat. 5 is plenty comfortable in the 211, we start to notice it being a smaller boat when we bring another family, which is probably only 10% of the time we are out.
I find the 211 a good teaching boat for my kids, the wakeboarding ramp is pretty tame without ballast, they were not intimidated.
Put links up for boats you are interested in and you will get lots of good opinions.
That boat in Portland is way over priced. I wouldn't expect that boat to sell over $41, $39 would be great.
