How Is 2006 Super Air 220 Team For Waterskiing

    Hi,

I'm looking for a great crossover boat, but want a soft slalom wake. There is a 2006 Super Air 220 available here in town. I know it can get great wakes for boarding/surfing, but has anyone enjoyed a good slalom experience behind one? I probably won't get a chance to try it out as our season doesn't begin until at least June on our lake here in Montana.

    Thanks in advance,
    Kent

All depends on what you're used to. The 220 isn't known for slalom. But compared to an I/O, it might be acceptable. The 211 is supposed to be more of a crossover, but if you're used to a DD it won't be acceptable. If you're in the market for new, the 200 Sport rocks with a slalom wake.

The usual suggestion for these questions is to try it. Only you can say what's acceptable. If it's still cold in Montana and you can travel, it'd be worth a weekend trip down south to research. That's a chunk of change to spend without knowing what you're getting.

I had the opportunity to spend some time with the new Sport 200, and it is an awesome boat! I had no problem wakeboarding behind it with ballast and a few people, could do all my inverts, raleys, spins, it wasnt a huge wake by any means, but great shape. I also had fun surfing behind it, and took it through the slalom course! The wake was the best v-drive I have skied behind 34@15 off. The best crossover boat if thats what your looking for!

        Not recommended

A Super Air 220, is just what the title says, Super Air. Not a boat I would suggest for a ski run. The only boat in the Super Air lane that has a decent ski wake is the newer 210 hulls. The aft section of the hull is relatively flat (doesn't carry the V through like the 220's and 230's). Thus when you reach the 30+ mph range, the wake flattens out pretty well (potentially better than the 211's). The 210 is also a pretty good footin wake, if you're into that.

I have a 220 and have slalomed behind it. I can tell you it was fun and I enjoyed it and will continue to do so.

If you're looking for competition type wake, it's the wrong boat. But if you're just a recreational skier / wake surfer / wakeboarder like me, it'll be just fine and I think you'll be happy with it.
