CC and MC would be dumb to be a part of this, IMO, short of a trade regulation requiring it. Boat dealers don't sell 4000 boats a year and get a 3-4% hold back like a car dealer. They need a 20% margin on boat sells to be able to stay in business.

Invoice cost doesn't mean $h!t anymore. There's so much money on the backside for dealers that nobody knows WHAT the true cost is. I'm in sales for a plumbing wholesaler and have been an outside salesman for them for years. I know what our front end cost is but on certain items we are selling (copper/pvc fittings for example) we are 30-40% into our front end net cost and I honestly don't have a clue what the REAL cost of them is.
Do you really think that these so-called "published" prices are really what the dealers pay? NO WAY!! The only way to surely know that you're getting a good deal on a boat or car is to have to walk out at least once. And talk to others to see what they are paying for like item. Invoice cost is crap.

There is no back end money on boats, like there is on cars. Now there can be on financing depending on your arrangement with the finance companies.

I concur with Shane. When I sold MC's, the most we ever got was a grand or two incentive to sell out non-current models. Discounts were also available, based on the quantity of units purchased for inventory.
