    best SAN 210 ballast setup?

Somewhat new to the surf world, and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on ballast and sack setups for surfing. I have a setup that works, A 750 lb and 250 lb tube sack plus stock ballast, but its not the pretty curl I am looking for. Maybe just a different configuration would work.

    Thanks,
    Tyler

Do a search, you will find tons of threads on this topic. Literally tons.

Quick and cheap, put that 250 in the center locker, and get a 400lb bag on the side seat. And only put about 400-500 in the 750 rear unless you are counter balancing up front.

Yea I already searched, just looking for some honest first hand opinions from you guys. I am already working with the stock belly tank and the two rear tanks on the port and starboard.

I have tried about every set up I can imagine trying to build the perfect wave. The best I have found is approximately a 40% weight distribution in the bow and int he ski locker, and a 60% distribution in the back behind the driver (or on the other side) and in the V-drive compartment. I have a 650# integrated bow sac, and a 350# ski locker sac int he front. In each V-drive compartment I have a 750# sac. I also have lead weight in 50# bags which I can adjust on the fly to fine tune the weight. I usually have between 250-350# in the boat depending on how many people I have along, coolers etc. I purchased an extra bow sac which was designed for a tige (looks like it would fit under 1/2 of their underseat bow portion) which I use to load up the front if I have 6-7 people in the boat and the weight is off. I have tied all of the sacs (minus the movable ones) into a switched reversible ballast system using four jabsco ballast puppy pumps. Works great. The key to a good wave in a nautique is keeping the rub rail along the entire side of the boat right at the waterline. Be very careful not to get water in the fuel vent line, I actually had to move the vent to keep water out of the gas tank. Also be very careful about taking water over the bow. With this much weight maneuvering can be very difficult. I actually placed 3 extra ballast pumps (one in each side of the V-drive compartment, and one int he ski locker) to help with added water drainage. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions

Man sounds like you have the dream surfing setup and really know what your doing. I hope to be able to afford a few more sacks very soon. Thanks for the advice though, it helped a lot!

Hey one more question Eric...if I am putting a 250 side sack in the back compartment on top of the stock wedge tank, do I need to put another piece of board under it for reinforcement or is that piece of board already over it enough?

            Thanks,
            Tyler

Since I pretty much built a SAN from a Super Sport I never had the plastic tanks in the V-drive compartment so I do not know how sturdy they are. I would imagine just to be safe maybe using a couple of pieces of 1/2 ply covered in resin and a 3/4 inch top over the tank just for added security. Plus it will add a bit more weight for your overall desired effect. Someone who has the original tanks may be able to answer a bit more knowledgable

Alright thanks that what I was thinking to throw a couple pieces of ply over the stock tank just to be safe...thanks!

I would still prob cover them with resin to increase strength and water resistance
