Stay Away from River City Boat Sales in Wilsonville Oregegon.

Got screwed by the dealer called the River City Boat Sales in Wilsonville Oregegon today.
After countless hours of searches for a perfect boat we finally found one and was all ready to complete the purchase of an 2006 SV21 for $33,000. Payment was pending upon dealer inspection. So I called River City Boat and paid in advance to have the seller bring the boat over for an inspection. The next morning the seller text to tell me he had sold it to someone else. So I called the dealer to canceled my credit card. To my surprise they told me they had bought the boat from the seller and it would be available for me to purchase for $43,000. That's $10,000 more than my agreed price with the seller. My jaw was dropped to floor in shock. I am still sick to my stomach that a dealer like River City Boat Sales can continually making a living by screwing their customers.

So they bought it out from underneath you and then had the nuts to tack $10k onto the price tag to flip it over to you? F* that noise. Granted, you should be equally pissed with the original seller but that is extremely shady behavior for a dealership. Did you have any sort of agreement beforehand with the original seller? I'm no lawyer but I believe a breach of even a verbal contact can warrant legal action in this litigious state we live in. Might not be worth the time or money that pretty flippin' lame. If they are a CC dealer, I would call CC in Orlando or the beter business bureau and file a complaint.
How 'bout a little reverse action...

Flame them here and then go find a different boat. There are a million boats out there, you will get one you will love.

Pursuing that beyond posting factual information will be a waste of time, energy, and money.

Sorry to hear it. That is just dirty...

Agree with WS - super shady, probably can't do much legally about it. But go to BBB, Yelp, Google reviews, WakeWorld, and every other boating forum you can find to post your complaint. You could always file a claim in small claims court for any reason just to be a burden. But I would take the high road, move on, but just let everyone know about your experience via these forums. My $0.02.

They are not a Correct Craft dealer, to the best of my knowledge, but the current Portland CC dealer is closing at the end of the month.

I'd be just as mad at the seller. You probably had a contract with the seller, for which you had already paid. He most likely breached by selling it to someone else. You may have had a contract with the dealer (with the dealer being your agent), that the dealer probably breached.

I could have been on the other end of this recently when I took my boat in to get a compression check for a buyer. While my boat was there, another potential buyer showed up looking for a direct drive Nautique and was very interested in my boat. The dealer told me this, but I said I would let him know if and only if my deal fell through, but unless and until it falls through, my boat is sold. This all happened before I had a written agreement or deposit from the buyer. I'm not trying to toot my own horn here (not too much anyway), but there are varying degrees of people out there, and unfortunately, you found "that guy"... well two "that guys."

Note, I am not your lawyer.

What color scheme and options? I'm looking for a 2003-2006 San.

Back on topic, this thread had me irritated all day. Unfortunately there is not much you can do, but I bet that boat rots on their lot. You post what happened here, on ccfan, and wakeworld, you are going to hurt the dealers ability to unload that boat. Be patient, the right boat will surface.

I posted them a link to this on their facebook page. They have changed their facebook page like 4 times. Must be because they keep doing deals like that. Unfortunately I had to like them to be able to comment on their page. I can't believe the seller didn't even ask you if you wanted to counter the dealers offer. Still shady, the guy should have never sold it out from under you.

I actually had about the same thing happen to me. Dealer was selling a used boat of a company they didn't sell, but knew I had looked at their brand that they sold new. I saw the boat listing get posted, called, and went and looked at the boat that day. I then told them to get me a contract price together and I would be securing my funds...Well by the next afternoon I hadn't heard from them, so I called. I was told that the boat had already been sold. So after basically telling them I was buying the boat, they "sell" it to someone else, but it sits on their website for another 2 weeks, with no sale tag or sale pending tag, supposidly waiting to be shipped. I was livid! Basically they told me the boat was sold, so that they could try and sell me one of their boats brand new. It ended up working out for the best and I got my 210, but I can tell you that this company will NEVER get my business in any way. It really sucked because I had no recourse or paperwork to back anything up other than "ok I will call you tomorrow and we'll go from there". Sorry dude, it happens, but it will work out for the best!
