I had both (1st boat TE, 2nd SE, 3rd TE). I wont go back to the SE again. Still have not heard firsthand about one failing.

Resale - from someone outside of the Nautique family, probably not a big deal either way. But more than likely a previous Nautique owner is going to want the TE.

My nature is to keep things simple and reliable. Show me something with a touchscreen more than 10 years old and tell me if the screen is readable, much less functionable. Just a personal preference. Take a car built in the 60's, and a good coat of paint and it looks great. All the cars built out of plastic nowadays won't be worth anything in 50 years, even if you could get replacement parts.

I'm not knocking the LINC system itself, but the general direction of technology. In about 5 years those things will start failing (everything with a computer does) and you'll need to replace the whole unit. It's putting all your eggs in one basket.

And buy the way...my cell phone is just a phone....yes I'm old fashioned...

I think the Linc not being a touch screen is a plus. Touch screens seem to wear pretty fast, as Tige and Bu owners will find out in a few short years. There is a chance one would have to replace a Linc at some point too, but I guess that's the nature of technology. I may have to swap out my keypad one day, but it's a simple job, and worth to me to not have an actual key. Plus, I like having the heater controls built in, as well as other options I may add at some point. I understand the thought of keeping it simple, but I like the creature features.

I also think simple is better long term, but in the short term gadgets are fun. I'd rather have a boat with the link system now, but in 5 years who knows. Anyone ever hear of the Malibu's Computron system? It was ahead of its time when they built Exchelon's with it in the 90s, now they are all broke with no replacements to be found. Someone buying the boat new probably won't keep it that long, however, so, again, who cares in the short run.

In any event, if you don't like computers, and you don't like keys, I just put a 3-position toggle switch in my American Skier to replace the keyed ignition, it cost less than 20 bucks and took about 1/2 an hour, and I like it better than having to input numbers like I used to on my 206.

Yeah, it bounced off my shoulder and left a pretty sizable bruise. Scared the bejeebers out of me.
