I put one on for this season and love it so far (have pics in my album). As far as overall sound decrease, yes it does make a difference, but I never though my boat was that loud to begin with. AS far as not feeling light headed after a 20 minute surf ride on a longer board, or a short strenuous session, the difference is amazing.

I am not sure if you could make one yourself, I guess it all depends on how good you are at welding. I dont believe that it would be the easiest thing in the world, based on the round exit from the exhaust, to the eliptical vertical exhaust. In so far as the length, etc., I imagine it may just be worth bviting the bullet and ordering it from the company. Just my 0.02$

One of the best additions to my 236. Less noise, no C02 headaches from me or kids, and I have yet to notice any reduction to performance. May seem a little pricey but it's one of those things I'll get on every inboard i own from here on out.

Give Larry at Fresh Air Exhaust a call, sometimes he may have finished units that will fit your application for sale. If not, they have a quick turnaround and are great to work with if you have any questions about your installation.

When you guys say light headed do you mean while surfing or when you ate in your boats?

          its freaking awesome!

I love it and would never have another inboard boat without it! It makes boating so much more enjoyable!!! Hands down the very best product you can put on your boat!

I have a 3" one on my 211 from Larry. I also have some 4" mandrel bent 90's and stainless pipe ready to be welded but it is sitting in a pile and will likely never be finished. Like many things, for the trouble even if you are a diyer it's just better to buy it and install it yourself. Mine is great. Never thought I needed it before it was available but now that I have it I can't imagine not having it. The wife hates surfing behind boats without it, it really spoils you.

Ill start by saying I think I am going to get one this summer but for the people in the boat. If you go to wake9.com and read their testing they found it made no difference for the surfer. They found a time where it reduce fumes at surfing distance. The big improvement was at the back of the boat. It helps some there.
