From what I have read, the Wrangler Unlimited in Europe has a much higher tow rating in Europe than here. (only 3500 here) I have also read rumors that with the addition of the Pentastar 3.6 liter V-6 the tow rating on the 2012 Wranglers will have a healthy increase. (some say up to 5 or 5.5k, I read one post saying possibly up to 7k but I highly doubt that)

It's not the motor/tranny I would be worried about towing a Nautique with a Jeep. It's the stopping power. Unless this new jeep is another 1k lbs heavier I still wouldn't do it.

I don't know how those front tires are staying on the ground on that Ruby with the SAN!

Really? So 4300lbs isnt heavy enough for you?

From my experiences, that is plenty of weight. Heck I used to tow a 2500lb boat (and another 1000+ lbs for trailer & gear) with a 3100lb Jeep Cherokee XJ with no issues, including panic stops.

Didn't know the Wranglers weighed that much. I saw they were rated somewhere around 3700lbs.

Regardless, a 210 weighs in at 3800lbs...heavy A$$ boat! You can tow it with whatever you want, just saying I'd never do it.

I had a TJ wrangler. DO NOT tow with it. It's tow rating is far too low for your boat. A pair of jet skiis at best, or maybe a small yard trailer. You will be a hazzard to those around you on the road, it will not be safe. Period.

              It's so sad.

The poor towing capacity on Wranglers is basically the one think keeping me from buying one.

I've had a CJ-5, 2 CJ-7's and a Wrangler. Then a Land Rover Defender 90. NONE of them, even the Defender, appreciated towing. Having a lot of muscle and torque does not make up for a short wheelbase (I know I am stating the obvious there, but I'm just sayin'). Then the 4 door Wrangler finally came out - but I can't find a review anywhere that doesn't at lest hint that the thing can barely get out of its own way - let alone tow something large a boat.

I towed the 2001 once, in a semi-emergency situation with my old wrangler... it did not go well. But we only had to go about a mile. Seriously - it felt borderline illegal. It sucks that they can't make even the beefiest of Jeeps - Beefier.

Those 4-door soft tops with all the doors off - just awesome as heck to look at.

              It's too basd.
