    216 DD vs Sport 200

Thinking seriously about the new 200, would love to hear comments from people who have skied, wake boarded and surfed behind both boats and if the 200 can do all them better than the 216, i suspect the surf part is a no brainer, but how about skiing? What about over all functionality of the boat on the lake with a family?

    thanks and appreciate and feedback.

BTW I have a 2008 216DD TE loaded and mint I am selling.

Testing the waters, I loved the 200 at the boat show but want to hear from people and their experience, I will also do a water test at some point if it goes to that next level.

The sport has a better ski and surf wake. The 216 feels a LOT roomier, though. Overall, the Sport fees really small inside which could possibly be an issue for a day trip with the family. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the wakeboard feel for both boats.

One of the things we do like to do is cruise and the 216 has been great for that, the bow of the 200 is definitely smaller than the 216, so if you had 9 people on the 200 for an afternoon would we really feel cramped in the 200 vs the 216?

          thanks for the comments

As good as the 200 Sport is, with 9 people on board it would be like a little clown car at the circus.

hhmmm interesting, 1 1/2 ft in length is a big difference, the Sport though is wider, I guess we will have to demo one with a group of people! thanks for the feedback.

the 200 likely has lower freeboard as well

The sport 200 and 216 both have the same beam.........95 inches. There is definitely less free board in the 200, too. 6 people would be cramped in a 200 in my honest opinion. While the engine compartment on the 200 DD does take up space, it's a place to sit that you kind of lose in the Sport 200. So in reality, I don't find there to be much if any more room in the Sport 200. It's just relocated room.

Hoping someone can confirm the slalom wake between a 216 DD and a sport 200 at 34 mph and then at lower speeds? Hoping similar

Coming from the 216 you will not be disappointed in the slalom wake. I have a lot of people skiing all different speeds and line lengths and have not had a complaint yet! I consider this the last of the “ski first” crossover boats which is why we have one at our lake house. Everything now is built with big wake as priority one and skiing is an afterthought.

We skied our 2008 216 for 11yrs. Its pretty good for what it is, at 32off 32+ MPH its decent and you are in front of the bump. I sold the 216, bought a G23 then added a 1995 MC Prostar 190 for skiing.

Thank you very much / seems very consistent that needs to be at 14m or less and 55kmh. Appreciate it

Maybe if your a coarse skier and wanted to run it thru the course all the time - open water is better than that. Like I said earlier, I have had a variety of skiers behind it from hard core course skiers to beginners with no complaints. If you are planning to ski a course all the time there is no comparison to a direct drive. Hence the reason I have a 99 siting on our course lake. But at my weekend place where I want a little bit of everything (skiing and barefooting priority) it is great. If you want wake and surf priority, buy a GS.

                              216 DD is 24" draft 91" beam
200V is 23.5" draft and 95" beam. The hull has multiple lifting pads (if in fact a direct copy of the 200) and the hydrogate may be larger.

200V is a beautiful boat, been in one at the dock, but haven't driven, skied or surfed it . My neighbor & his kids are happy with it.

While it skied well, I didn't like the commotion of disturbance/spray coming off the back of the 200DD hull.
Having gone to one, I really like the V-drive for seating, noise level, zooming around the lake. But for a 200V i'd have to give it a full test of everything before considering.

For example the SV211 has handled all the ballast I've thrown into it no problem, without dunking the nose. I think I can get this sucker to ski as well as a 200 with a bit of work. So other than looks and Linc not too much to gain from going to a 200V.

The 216V looks like it may be a good starting point for the ultimate crossover.
